Re: Christmas theme 2018

I've just updated my parents box which is on Ubuntu 18.04.1 and MythTV master and it updated without any problems so could just be a v29 problem. Looking at one of my frontend it looks like you should have a themes.zip file in ~/.mythtv/tmp/ that was modified today. You should also have a bunch of d...

Re: My setup broke, not sure what happened

Is the backend running? You can check by running in a terminal

Code: Select all

sudo systemctl status mythtv-backend
Is there any errors in the log?

Code: Select all

journalctl -u mythtv-backend --since today

Christmas theme 2018

The 2019 version of the MythCenterXMAS-wide theme is now available in the theme chooser as version 1.8 for 29.0 and 30.0-pre (master). This version contains all new background images and despite global warming it's still snowing :) I noticed a bug in the theme updater in that it never removes old fi...

Re: Help with waking up Frontend via USB (Remote or Keyboard)

Have you checked the BIOS to see if there is an option to allow USB keyboards to wake the PC up?

Re: Deleting a recording fails to delete the associated media files

I wouldn't use the file manager to delete them that will really confuse Myth and make things worse. If you go to the System Status screen and in the last tab "Auto Expire List" can you see the Recordings you deleted there? If you select one on there and choose "Delete Now" does it get deleted (it ma...

Re: MythFillDatabase doesn't grab all of the data

I think this is by design to limit the amount of data being fetched it updates today to make sure we have up to date EPG data and tries to fetch any new data after the period the last run fetched. Try adding the '--refresh 1' to update a particular day or '--refresh 0-13' to update a range of days i...

Re: Channel icons

The problem of anyone setting up their own channel logo db has always been the legal uncertainty of whether you can copy and redistribute the channel logos since they are nearly always trade marks or whatever of the TV broadcasters. You would probably have to seek permission from each broadcaster to...

Re: Channel icons

That only applies to channel icons fetched from Lyngsat which many of the XMLTV grabbers use.

Anyone who used the Schedules Direct grabbers even the XMLTV json ones will fetch the channel icons direct from links provided by SD and so don't have the problem mentioned by Steve.

Re: How to get a theme in the theme chooser repo

If you have at least tried to contact them then that's fine, they have nothing to complain about. I know Thomas who maintains the Mythbuntu themes is still about, he also maintains the Ubuntu packages, but I believe like many of the original devs he no longer uses MythTV so probably has little inter...

Re: How to get a theme in the theme chooser repo

You will have to make your theme available somewhere where our packaging script can check for updates and package it for use with the theme chooser. Making it available on Github is OK. Ideally you would have a master branch and also one for any fixes version you want to support. Since you are just ...

Re: Removal of deleted recordings still in the database (and filesystem)

Bill could be right auto expired or manually deleted recordings will only be deleted from the file system if the space is required. You can go to the System Status screen and on the 'Auto Expire' tab force the delete of any expired or deleted recordings on there but you can only do one recording at ...

Ah! well spotted dizygotheca :)

There was a conflict in the cherry pick so I had to do a little copy/paste and somehow screwed it up. All fixed now I think

Re: Mythbuntu theme

The patch has been sitting in master since 20th June and no one reported any problems so I just cherry picked it into 29.0-fixes assuming it should work OK there to since I've no way to easily test fixes. There must be some differences between the two that I am not aware of. I've never used the Ubun...
