Re: [Solved] mythfrontend: symbol lookup error

Some versions of Ubuntu require libzip5 and others libzip4 each Ubuntu version only has one or the other available but not both.

For now I've changed the runtime dependency to libzip-dev since that acts like a meta package and pulls in the correct library version for us.

Re: mythfrontend: symbol lookup error

Actually I see both in the deb :roll: :?

$ ldd /home/paul/data/usr/bin/mythfrontend.real | grep zip
libzip.so.5 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libzip.so.5 (0x00007f3122265000)

nm -D /home/paul/data/usr/bin/mythfrontend.real | grep extract
U _Z10extractZIPR7QStringRKS_

Re: mythfrontend: symbol lookup error

Very strange. It seems the runtime dependency for libzip-dev which is what we compile against depends on what version of Ubuntu you are on but in a strange way :? bionic (18.04LTS) libzip4 (= 1.1.2-1.1) focal (20.04LTS) libzip5 (= 1.5.1-0ubuntu1) groovy (20.10) libzip5 (= 1.5.1-0ubuntu1) hirsute (21...

Re: mythfrontend: symbol lookup error

This is a result of the new dependency on libzip.

Can you check if you have the libzip5 package installed with

Code: Select all

apt-cache policy libzip5
If it's not installed install it and then try running the frontend again

Code: Select all

sudo apt install libzip5

Re: 50% of the data is unknown stream? Freesat

OK found it :)

It's under Recording Profiles -> Hardware DVB Encoders -> Default -> Recording Type and change it to TV Only.

Re: 50% of the data is unknown stream? Freesat

Most likely it is the MHEG streams for interactive TV. You will most likely see this on BBC channels since they have the RED button service. If you play a recording that still has those streams and you press the RED (F1) key you should see the interactive stuff start up even though it's a recording ...

Re: jfs troubles with Myth

XFS is a good choice for storage groups I've always used it and never have any problems. It can like JFS delete files faster as well although if you turn on slow deletes so things like expired or deleted recordings slowly get truncated before the file it deleted then the problems cause by filesystem...

Looks like it's just a warning. Maybe someone who knows perl can change the script to use one of the other parsers mentioned.

Re: Status report interpretation

Your first post mentions mythtv-status which is not part of MythTV. mythtv-setup on the other hand is part of MythTV :? The default value for LocalHostName is <LocalHostName>my-unique-identifier-goes-here</LocalHostName> which basically means MythTV will use the hostname of the machine as the identi...

Re: Status report interpretation

mythtv-status must be some third party utility. It's not part of MythTV.

If that 500 is an http error code then that usually means an internal server error of some kind.

What do you get if you type that URL into a browser on the same machine?

Re: mythtv-setup freezes upon launching

Just for reference. Peter added the StartupScreenDelay at my request because he changed something that was causing the setup screen to always be shown when the FE started. It was driving me and my users nuts because we found it so irritating. Each time the FE started up there would be a flash of the...

Re: The future of MythTV

I've been running MythTV for years on NUC back- and front-ends. One tiny beef is when something goes wrong on the frontend, the system cycles into a black hole: you get a screen that the frontend can't connect to the backend which is difficult to dismiss. For example, when the screwup is the networ...

Which is what I suggested in the post that heyted referenced above. https://forum.mythtv.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=4426#p21770 It's not clear from the OP if he is seeing 100's of extra key presses or just 1 or 2 extra ones. If it's 100's then yes the answer is try a different kernel as suggested in t...
