Re: Mythfilldatabase Using Unencrypted Authentication?

It's true we don't support the old JSON grabber that I believe inserts data directly into the database but there are now 2 xmltv grabbers that will just work like any other xmltv complaint grabber.

Gary is to modest to say but one of the grabbers is his and is the one all the developers use :)

Re: UBUNTU MythTV- Unable to load channels on backend

Th IPTV recorder is a little picky about the format of the m3u file, it was initially created for use from a single FREEBOX source but has been enhanced to make it work with other sources but still needs work to make it work properly with some sources. You might have to create your own .m3u file and...

Re: Hauppauge remote control?

Don't know if this info is still correct (last updated in 2016?) but it says the remote is not implemented so you might be out of luck. https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-quadHD_(ATSC_ClearQAM) I would look at the output from dmesg to see if there is anything in there to suggest ...

Re: MythTV 29.1 Release

I don't know the legal details but the project has never produced binaries to protect the developers from being sued for copyright or patent infringements and having to get licences for the use of the MPEG stuff amoung other things. So we only make it available through source code and it's up to it'...

Re: Migrating Recorded Program Data to Newer Schema

The format of the recordings is the same it's just the file extension that changed to be .ts since in they are transport streams not mpeg files as such so as Mike suggests that has nothing to do with your problem.

It looks like a problem with cec not installing or missing. Strange thing is my PPA which uses the same packaging builds fine :?

Re: Schedules Direct - information requested

Just to complicate things further there is also another SD grabber that most of the devs use that also uses the JSON API called tv_grab_zz_sdjson_sqlite.

That one only uses the <source>.xmltv config files to point to the sqlite database and choose a lineup everything else is stored in the Sqlite DB.

Re: mythtv not finding tuners when autostarting

Jerry

Sure it could be done, is it worth spending the little amount of developer time available on it. I doubt it, I really think the upstream distros should fix there init system files and then this wouldn't be a problem.

Re: themecache of unusually large size

You can safely delete the cache files. It may make loading some screens in the FE a little slow the first time you access them since the cached images will have to be recreated. There is some new stuff to prune the caches but not sure what version that made it into. It may be 30.0 only. In the grand...

Re: MythMusic CD information - Freedb

Nothing was ever decided but the thinking was given the lack of developers and developer time it would be better to concentrate on what Myth is good at and that is schedule and record TV so work on improving mythbackend and also improve the services API and allow third party projects like Kodi to pr...

Re: MythMusic CD information - Freedb

We do already use the Musicbrainz mirror for the cddb database which uses their own database. The problem is the way the lookup works doesn't always return one single result but there may be several completely unrelated cd's returned. We currently assume the first result is the correct one which as ...

There is nothing to fix in MythTV since it's not it's fault it's a problem with the way your distro has set things up. :?

Re: MythMusic on slave frontend not seeing music dir from master backend

IIRC you need to define both 'Music' and 'MusicArt' storage groups on the master BE or a slave BE should also work.

Only the BE needs direct access to the music files all the FE's will use storage groups to access them.

Re: Second mythfrontend restarts on its own.

Do you have "Automatically save session on logout' turned on in the Session and Startup options? If the FE is running when you shut down I guess that will restart that FE as well as the one in the startup script when you reboot. The other option is the startup script is thinking the FE has crashed a...
