Re: upgrading to MythTV 30

I've asked the MythBuntu developers to change that description it's just been overlooked. As Mike said 30 is the current version.

Re: Audio delay with hdmi at start of playback

I don't see a 2 second delay so I would say not normal. Could it be a delay introduced by your TV? Some can take a while to sort themselves out when the HDMI format changes?

Re: Whither MythTV and Streaming?

This wiki page is probably more relevant to what you want to do. https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual:Setting_up_HTTP_Live_Streaming_Recorder It all depends on how the stations you want to record make the streams available. Most don't want you to record them so make it as difficult as possible to...

Re: Pluto TV on Myth

Pluto TV looks interesting but at least when looking at the web site here in the UK it is very light on information, no way to even see what programs are on each channel, and very slow to load which doesn't give me much confidence they are here to stay. In any case most people use MythTV to get away...

Messing with the DB is not recommended but if you must ;)

Code: Select all

mysql> SELECT * from storagegroup;

Re: Attempted upgrade from .28 to .29 - failed - trying to go back to .28, frontend cant connect to db

Unless your hostname has changed there should be no need to change <LocalHostName>my-unique-identifier-goes-here</LocalHostName> since using the hostname is the default. It is important it is using the correct value since MythTV uses this value to find the correct settings in the database for this m...

Re: Attempted upgrade from .28 to .29 - failed - trying to go back to .28, frontend cant connect to db

Try connecting to mysql on the command line first. There has been lots of threads telling you how like this one https://forum.mythtv.org/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=3032&p=14689#p14683 Your log says it's trying to connect to mysql on 192.168.1.151 is that correct? It's using /home/mythuser/.mythtv/config.x...

Re: Trouble installing V30

Sometimes doing a

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
beforehand is enough to clean things up and allow the install to go cleanly

Re: Can't play videos using VLC

No reason why you can't do that.

It would still be nice to figure out why the internal player doesn't work properly. What is the source of the video files? Does vlc figure out how to play the files without having to configure something? What about mythffplay or ffplay does that work?

Re: Can't play videos using VLC

I'm not aware of any feature to rotate the image in the internal player. Looks like only %d and %s are available in the external command substitution. https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/blob/master/mythtv/programs/mythfrontend/videoplayercommand.cpp#L26 Wouldn't be too difficult to add say %f to pass ...

Re: Can't play videos using VLC

VLC doesn't have support for the myth:// urls used so can't play the files over the MythTV protocol. It is possible to write a plugin for VLC to support it, I do have one that I used to test playback using a libVLC but the switch to VLC 3.0 broke a few things and haven't bothered to fix it other tha...

Re: Upgrade 29 -> 30 Breaks HDHomerun

If you already have the hdhomerun library then your current packages must not have been compiled with hdhomerun support compiled in which makes more sense than just the dependency is missing now that I think about it. You should be able to tell if your version has hdhomerun support by running mythba...

Re: Upgrade 29 -> 30 Breaks HDHomerun

MythTV used to use it's own copy of the HDHomerun library but now uses the system installed one which the Fedora packages was missing. It has since been updated to include it so updating should fix it or just install the HDHomerun library will also probably work.

Re: Can I replace the Recording Player?

No you can't replace the player used for recordings.

You don't say what version you are using? There is on going work to improve the internal player some changes have make it into 30.0 but most work is now being done in what will be 31.0
