Re: Are storage directories used or the old Video Settings - Directory For Fanart...?

I have those same settings in mine, but if I look at the actual directories, they aren't their. Not even /.mythtv/Video. How they got in the settings I have no idea.

Never ran the 5.8.0 kernel. Suggest you got to this and see if it fixes the problem. wes@mythfe0:~$ ir-keytable -V IR keytable control version 1.18.0 wes@mythfe0:~$ uname -a Linux mythfe0 5.10.0-1023-oem #24-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 15 13:46:37 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux wes@mythfe0:~$ lsb_re...

Re: time for a new backend / daily driver

If you're getting a new MB, I highly suggest you get one with M.2 NVME slot and nvme drive, NVME drives are many times faster than sata ssd drives.

MCP is supposed to work good. Never heard of iconnor ppa. Personally, I used apt-get myhthtv.

Re: time for a new backend / daily driver

I've been very happy with my AMD Ryzen 3 2200G and 3200G cpu's. I'm sure there's a reason for high end video cards, but I just don't know what it is. Both will handle 2160 video.

Re: Determine loading on system for additional programs?

An I5-4570 should easily run zoneminder and mythtv backend. upgrade it to 20.04lts and then put mythtv on it. My old be/fe was an amd 2+ with gf8200 built in graphics, a 2.5gh 4 core cpu, and 6 tuners. It easily worked while recording 6 shows at once and watching a recording.

Re: Myth doesn't connect to Silicon Dust tuner properly after power outage

I haven't had this problem in a while, but it seems like I used the wait command at one point when a frontend machine had to wait for the network to be up when I first used an SSD drive to boot.

Re: Myth doesn't connect to Silicon Dust tuner properly after power outage

It's a known issue with pretty much some/many tuners, not just hdhr's. The server booted too fast for the tuners to initialize.

Re: time for a new backend / daily driver

I recently upgraded my main backend server and one frontend only machine. I went with am4 atx mobo for the server and an am4 matx for the frontend machine. For cpu's am4 2200G and 3200G,s with built in graphics. You must go with nvme main drives for speed. NVME drives are a lot faster than sata SSD ...

Re: watching live TV for long periods: can I?

What dir do you have set for live tv. The default used to be /var/lib/mythtv/livetv. Open a browser. Go to webfrontend.
http://localhost:6544/
then select Information>backend status and go down to machine information.

Re: Best Linux for MythTV

I think pretty much all major distros have mythtv in their repos. I use xubuntu. take your pick.
