Re: Configuring XMLTV Prior to V31 upgrade

Just a wag, but if you don't run mfdb, why would you expect to have a cache file? The mfdb run is what writes the cache file. Start the server, then from scott open a terminal and run mythfilldatabase with no args. You should then have a cache file wherever you specified it to be when you configured...

Re: Frontend trying to connect with old IP address

New router assigned a different dchp address to computer. Solution is to change the dhcp range in new router to something outside of the address you want to use for the mythtv server and then manually config the old address to the old ip number.

Re: Configuring XMLTV Prior to V31 upgrade

It should have been created under /home/scott/.xmlttv/* if you ran setup from user scott. You would then need to move it under /home/mythtv/.xmltv/ and then also copy the .xmltv file to user mythtv, and edit the cache file to point to the one you copied to under user mythtv.. See previous post examp...

Re: Configuring XMLTV Prior to V31 upgrade

Does this help? Both my sd.xmltv files point to the same cache file. wes@mythfe0:~$ ll /home/wes/.mythtv/sd.* -rw-rw-r-- 1 wes wes 173 Dec 26 09:21 /home/wes/.mythtv/sd.xmltv wes@mythfe0:~$ ll /home/mythtv/.mythtv/sd.* -rw-rw-r-- 1 wes wes 173 Aug 8 2019 /home/mythtv/.mythtv/sd.xmltv wes@mythfe0:~$ ...

Re: Configuring XMLTV Prior to V31 upgrade

I can tell you how I got it working, but first make sure you have all xmltv packages installed. Easiest way for me to do that is to run my package manager and search for xmltv. Synaptic shows 5 packages, including mythtv. First I ran mythtv-setup form the menu as my user (wes). Configured for the st...

Re: ir_keytable show correct keys but Myth doesn't recognise them

Quick followup. 5.11-RC6 01-31-2021 has the patch and it works. Hopefully all kernels compiled after that date will also work.

Re: Recording options

the default recording rule is global. Set it to start recording 1 minute early and 1 minute late will cause all following recordings set to have the options as default.

Re: Building v.26

Install older mythbuntu. Then if you want later kernels, just install them. Shouldn't be a problem. However, kernels after 5.8.7 have a serous problem with ir-keytable not working. A patch has been submitted but will take some time to be included in newer kernels. I'm running 5.8.7 now on xubuntu 20....

Re: Separate always-on WebFrontend

Typically my system draws ~75W when I'm not using it. That's 1.8kw per day or about 25 cents. $7.50 per month. Not worth the worry to me considering cycling the system on and off daily would result in more frequent system failures which would far exceed the cost of monthly electricity. Just my 2 cen...

Here's mythbuntu 14.04. Not sure what version it came with either, but earlier than 16.04.
