Re: HID Remotes

Plug in your usb receiver. Type ir-k and hit tab key. If you have ir-keytable on your system, it should display the command. If not, then install it. Then just press the enter key to get the info about your receiver. here's one of mine. wes@mythfe0:~$ ir-keytable Found /sys/class/rc/rc3/ (/dev/input...

Re: What IR Remotes are Available

I've got older HP usb receivers. They are compatible with these protocols and will work with any ir remote that uses either of them. rc-5 rc-5-sz jvc sony nec sanyo mce_kbd rc-6 sharp xmp. If you have an ir remote that is not supported by your receiver, you can use lirc with any receiver since it us...

Re: HID Remotes

It will work with as many input devices you have. I got one with a ps2 remote KB, a usb remote KB, and a usb ir remote. They can all work at the same time.

Re: Newer system, accessing old system content..

A single backend/frontend machine will run fine without a network connection as long as you have it and the database configured properly. Make sure the DB is running first. Then make sure the backend starts without a problem. Should then be a simple matter of running the frontend setup and pointing ...

Re: Setting up a Linux MythTV server and web clients

AFAIK, all ota atsc 1.0 are transmitted in mpeg2 format. If you want them in another format, you can transcode them to whatever you want. ATSC 3.0 will be H265 iirc, but that won't happen for at least 2years imo. The file extension in linux means nothing. Earlier versions had extensions of .mpeg iir...

Re: Setting up a Linux MythTV server and web clients

Mythtv uses the DB to store all the info about a recording, and everything else. The raw recording files is not all there is to it. As long as the plex clients don't try and delete or change the recording files, there shouldn't be a problem. If it deletes the file then it will still be in the mytv D...

Re: Setting up a Linux MythTV server and web clients

You will have to have a client of some kind to interface with the server with any server based solution to record programs. Call it a box, PC, smart tv, or something else. Doesn't matter. The best solution imo is a linux based fontend that will give each location control of everything of the server....

Re: Setting up a Linux MythTV server and web clients

Easy for a lan. For wan, you'd need lot's of bandwidth and preferably a static ip for the Mythtv server if you want to watch recordings over the wan. Sorry I no nothing about roku, but you don't need it for a server-client mythtv setup. Just run mythtv frontends on the clients. You can schedule reco...

Re: No Live TV

Just boot to the old kernel (from grub menu) if you want tv tonight and it worked with the old kernel. You could then remove the new kernel if you want to.

Re: Recommend OTA ASTC tuner card

I'm running kernel 4.19.11 on 18.04lts. Just install ukuu and you can update your kernel as they become available. My hardware wasn't supported well until kernel 4.19. Ryzen 2200G and AM4 mb.

Re: Recommend OTA ASTC tuner card

The quad tuner is probably your best bet. If I didn't already have 3 dual tuners that's what I'd get. It should be ok with the latest kernel distros. Mythtv will use any thats linux compatible. It never hurts to have more than enough. I routinely use more than 2 at a time and have used all 6 at once...

Re: mark directory in storagegroup as readonly

You don't need any shares for later versions of mythtv remotes. Yeah, I had to setup nfs shares 13 years ago when I started using mythtv, but that hasn't been needed for quite a while now. Upgrade to a newer version.
