Re: Steps to upgrade to Unbuntu 20.04 and Mythtv 31

Just one bit of advice. before you do any upgrading do a system backup. That way, if you screw it up, you can always restore a working system.

Re: IR Scancodes but no Keycodes

/etc/re_keymaps/mycodes.toml. Really? Mine or in /etc/rc_keymaps/, not re_keymaps. hard to say what's wrong without looking at the control files. The format of the keymaps file changed from 18.04 to 20.04.

Re: TBS5520SE & HP Compaq tc4400 Tablet PC???

AFAIK, MPTS is basically mpeg-2. There is no decoding required of the input stream. Its stored in its original mpeg-2 format to disk. Video output will depend on the graphics chipset you have in the tablet and whatever the video source format is, Most will do 1080 HD these days without much problem....

Re: How to run mythtv-setup as user "mythtv"

I have no idea what installation instructions you are talking about. Instructions for adding/changing a password can be found with man passwd. AFAIK, ubuntu does not set a root password as default. to set a root password on your system type sudo passwd and follow instruction by entering your normal ...

Re: White Box covers most of Screen

It's becoming increasing hard to be civil about this. Do you think it's the mythtv developers responsibility to to maintain the version for your distro. It's not. And they don't do it for any other distro either afaik. Perhaps you should switch distros to one that does keep their software up to date...

Re: Failed to record episode - shown as "previously recorded"

Go to recording rules and check the schedule options. make sure it's set to to check both title and description. If set to just check the title, it will only record one episode with that title. Also check the default rule to make sure it's set the way you want it.

Re: XMLTV grabber returned error code 1

Thanks so much for the reply. Yes, I believe the problem is the structure of the config file. It currently is NOT in XML format. Looks like JSON to me. When I run the "--configure" on the grabber i get a file that looks like this (with parts redacted): cache=/root/.xmltv/tv_grab_zz_sdjson.cache cha...

Re: How to run mythtv-setup as user "mythtv"

If you don't know the mythtv users pw, change it. As root, passwd mythtv will allow you to do that. If you don't have a root passwd, then sudo passwd will allow you to create one.

Re: How to delete all recording rules

It takes all of 1 second to delete a recording rule. I've got about 100 and could delete all of them in about 90 seconds. press d, press arrow down, press enter, repeat.

Learned something new. CIDR. A way to mess with old timers heads. Not sure I agree with its use as it seems to limit mask. But who am I to say.

Re: MythTV Backend on multiple networks

afaik, neither of the ip addresses you posted are valid ip addresses. For that reason I don't have a clue what you are trying to accomplish. My suggestion would be to forget the madness and just use one network address, and assign all the clients to the same network and subnet.
