Re: how to "rescan" on MythTV

With normal tuners, run mythtv-setup, Channel editor, delete affected or all channels and scan again. There may be more things you have to do with hdhr or other standalone devices.

Re: Considering Setting Up MythTV on Linux

I got rid of all my DVR's back in 2005 and all I've used since then is mythtv with 6 tuners (3 dual) in my combo front/backend and 4 other frontend only boxes. 1. Forget hdhr's. get a 4 tuner card for under $100. For control you can use mini keyboards, ir remotes or whatever else that will work like...

Re: Is recording as .mpg possible?

They are the same files. The only thing that changed was the file extender name from .mpg to .ts. They are still mpeg2 files. Perhaps you are using a different config to display themthan you were with the earlier version.

Re: X Crashes Leaving Live TV

Try setting the display to 1366x768. That's what it took for it to work right on my old Samsung 46". I've since replaced the tv with a 4k.

Re: Newby questions about MythTV capabilities

There's lots of ways to record things in Linux. So you could use any method and store them in the videos folder and view them with mythtv frontend.
google record streaming video with linux

Re: MythTV users in US media markets

Go to board index and scroll to bottom of page for count of users by country that are registered board users, I'd suspect there are many more that either aren't registered here or don't even know about this forum

Re: Are Remote Tuners via WAN possible?

Don't know about A, But B should work. At one time I ran slave BE/FE combo before buying dual pcie tuners where I could get all the tuners in one box. Ir worked fine on the lan with 4 tuners in the master and 2 in the slave. Only concerns I see are bandwidth and you'll need to do do 2 scans for chan...

Re: Atom CPU Enough Power?

I ran 4 tuners on an old amd 64 way back when with a frontend on the same machine. No problem with OTA HD. Until recently, I used an old AMD 4 core Phenom 805 with the 6 tuners I ave had for years. I also ran a frontend with an old 800Mhz Duron. All a backend does is store the recorded ota mpeg2 fil...

Re: Atom CPU Enough Power?

As long as you don't do a lot of transcoding or real time commercial flagging, I would think it has way more than enough power.

Re: intermittent back end connection problem

AFAIK, you don't need and internet connection for mythtv to operate. Although I wouldn't rule out the system slowing down trying to get the connection.

Re: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G

Everything has been running smooth through kernel 5.1.21. However, none of the 5.2.x work at all.
