Re: Guide Data for Australia

Looks like Schedules Direct are now testing a service for Australia for anyone interested in testing the new service. https://lists.archive.carbon60.com/mythtv/users/634384 I recall SD did this for Oz guide data a couple of years ago, then pulled it. It's great to have the option, but hope that doe...

Re: Guide Data for Australia

I ran the script. It populated the xml file. However with the mythfilldatabase part I got errors like those below for all channels - so no updates were made to mythconverg. Do I need to insert these channel identifiers into mythconverg as the XMLTV ID's? Also - Who is maintaining this site and wher...

Re: Guide Data for Australia

This is just a quick script I put together, could do with some checking etc. You can get your sourceid using: mysql -umythtv -p mythconverg -e "select sourceid from videosource" #!/bin/bash XMLTVFILE='Brisbane.xml' SOURCEID='1' RESULT=$(wget -c http://xmltv.net/xml_files/$XMLTVFILE -P /tmp) /usr/bin...

Re: Mythtv on Ubuntu 20.04 (edit: mostly ir-keytable/lirc issue)

Not following this. Standard ascii codes are 0-127, and extended codes are 128-255. So all numbers and letters are below 128. Something else must be causing the problem. I mean it worked fine in all previous version up until 20.04LTS. Don't remember exactly when I switched from lirc to ir-keytable ...

Re: Mythtv on Ubuntu 20.04 (edit: mostly ir-keytable/lirc issue)

Apologies if this has already been covered, I did a quick scan of this thread and didn't see a mention of it but I might have missed it. I had the exact same issue as you. The directional and enter/returned remote buttons worked, but nothing else. I found on a page somewhere, that the ASCII code for...

Re: Usefulness of database backup

You can also quickly clean up recordings with missing files (which is what you'll have in your scenario) using the find_orphans script: https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Find_orphans.py I find it very useful to have DB backups. It saves hours of configuration. I've got a daily scripted backup that saves t...

Re: Updated to 18.04 LTS, lirc was a PITA

I need to be able to run scripts via remote button presses, so while ir-keytable is great, it didn't suit my needs. So I did this:

Re: Anyone Installed UBUNTU 18.04.2 LTS if yes on which version ? MYTHTV version of mythtv ?

Hi, I installed Xubuntu when 18.04.2 LTS was released, then installed mythtv 0.29 via the PPA and restored my database. When mythtv 30 was released, upgraded via the PPA again. Haven't had any major problems that aren't specific to my hardware/setup. One gotcha is lirc if you intend to use it. I lik...

Re: Mythbuntu PPA 30 still gives "HERE BE DRAGONS" warning

I noticed the same thing about the warning in the Mythbuntu 30 PPA, but decided to upgrade via the PPA anyway. I did it a week ago, and the wife and kids haven't complained yet. It seems to be a little quicker in the menus etc too. I'm on Xubuntu 18.04.

Re: MythTV in Oz

Anyone have a setup guide to do MythTV 29 on Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS that works in Australia, I have tried and tried to do it always had to get help from a friend in the past. I did manage to do it once on Ubuntu 12.4 LTS but never been able to do it again. I do Windows day in and day out fix everyone e...

Re: Improving your guide data in Australia

I've had a chance to play around with the XMLTV data from freepg.tv. This isn't a complete test as it's all in VM, with no tuners that I can connect to the VM's to test the actual recording (to confirm the start and end times are correct, although is that actually possible given the way the Aussie f...

Re: Improving your guide data in Australia

Hi, I've been using shepherd for years now and found it to be excellent. However I recently stumbled across the following website: http://au.freepg.tv/ I'm not sure if the data is any better (or worse), but if you can download the XMLTV data from a single source, and not have to apply multiple level...
