Re: Metadata lookup causes Backend to deadlock

Yes, FE was always running when it happened but that could just be down to chance & the pop-up message notifications in FE make you fully aware.

I try might disable metadata lookup for month & see if this issue stops. TV guide data here has problems anyway (everything is a movie etc).

Re: Metadata lookup causes Backend to deadlock

@jksj A very similar error happens for me (running version master from couple months back). Occurs once a week lately .. was 3 times a week a few months back. Logs imply it is metadata lookup. For me, the backend can still successfully record & respond to 'mythbackend --testsched' just all network/s...

Re: mythpreviewgen fails on MKV files with H264 video

I presume you are replacing the recorded file with the transcoded version "in-place". The original file has a seektable as recorded & it is possible that mythpreviewgen converts time t to seektable keyframe (18858) to grab an image at t. MythTV can not generate a seektable for mkv container (& MKV i...

Re: Testing Master 31pre on a ION core dumps all the time

I guess this is could be DB driver error & not a MythTV code fault/failure. There is yet another FOSS confused mess w.r.t. maria v.s mysql. Some distro are trying to plumb in mariadb without any obvious notification/choice.. except some programs don't work. https://askubuntu.com/questions/976915/how...

Re: Need help/advice on downgrading MythTv/MythBuntu

About 1 year ago was running master (0.30) on 14.04 & it was an appliance. Now not so much. Building master on 14.04 become very difficult (Qt etc) & a new tuner card required building LinuxTV media backports. MythTV master about 1 year ago could play Blurays titles directly of the disc. DVD playbac...

Re: Some "media keys" not recognized in key mapping?

I wouldn't trust showkeys? or any of the X11 utilities (xbindkeys, xev etc) as they now high level event consumers. Are you sure the key events you see are complete? I find that OS or systemd or other (pulseaudio, display-manager ?) steal the special keypress events & remove/modify the keycodes. Try...

Re: v30 Could not open Decoder on LiveTV

The unwritten MythTV rule in the DVB world is never re-scan (without DB backup plan). And you do not have the same problem. Scanning for channels has nothing in common with the FE LiveTV stream probesize ffmpeg nonsense. PCTV 290e is NOT a decoder, it is a tuner that has more than its fair share of ...

Re: Something hangs? Maybe mythcommflag? Can't connect to database?

Can't connect to DB or MBE? When the BE network/socket interface appears dead I try: # often not so helpful systemctl status mythbackend.service # typ. dead mythshutdown -s # typ. works okay mythbackend --testsched # as systemctl stop mythbackend.service is ineffective in this state. killall mythbac...

Re: mythconverg_restore fails to restore database

I think the schema info only shows in logs when there are warnings/errors. I would guess that the MBE is running v30 & schema 1350 & the problem frontend is running v29 or a version of v30 that only knows about an earlier schema (1348).. I think that any matching version protocol frontend can connec...

Re: mythconverg_restore fails to restore database

Sorry, the schema is not revealed in BE logs under normal operation. But the protocol version is logged on every startup. MythTV 'master' is at schema version 1357.. 1350 schema was commited Dec20 2018 into MythTV v30 & v31-pre ?? 1352 schema was commited Nov 2 2019. I was under the belief that all ...

Re: mythconverg_restore fails to restore database

Your cmd line options are causing the script to treat one of the parameters as a database information file. The "main" schema update is performed by 'mythtv-setup' Any plug-in schema changes are handled by them somehow. BE logs should reveal schema.. start BE from terminal or look at systemd logs. s...

Re: HVR4000 TVcard - DVB-S and DVB-T suddenly not recognised - only analogue

AFAIK The PCI eeprom & the card's generic firmware functions make 'plug-n-play' work. Those sub sysytem ID numbers shouldn't be '0000' FWIU. Those numbers identify the card & card's subsystems to the BIOS or OS. The sub-systems are the individual configurable circuit blocks encoder/tuner/demodulator...

Re: Adding a slave backend

Does it work better if you start the remote backend from terminal & without using "--syslog local7" & not using systemd service file? My experience with MythTv BE-FE using network interface for remote FE/BE & systemd is that:- - need to compile MythTV with systemd support - can NOT use "--syslog loc...

Re: HD homerun breaks up for one second (or less) on only one channel

I don't agree with your conclusion altho you might be right. Big changes in picture are typically accompanied by keyframes in program stream files (BD etc). But I believe ATSC OTA broadcast uses more complex keyframe/refresh methods. If you play the recording file with mpv (not MythTV) & you have th...
