Re: IR Remote Keys Repeat Many Times Starting with Kernel 5.8.0-49

Thanks Wes N and Paul H. To update this, kernel 5.8.0-52.59 appears to have solved this problem.

[Solved] IR Remote Keys Repeat Many Times Starting with Kernel 5.8.0-49

After pressing a key on my IR remote, the key is repeated about 500 times. Is anyone else having this issue? This is also being discussed on the mailing list: https://lists.archive.carbon60.com/mythtv/users/636833 I filed a bug report here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1926030

Re: Mythfilldatabase runs, but doesn't insert into guide

Need to run mythfilldatabase as the same user that runs the backend. This is usually user mythtv. If setup was done using user stefan, the necessary files need to be copied to the backend user (probably mythtv) directory.

Re: Streaming music from MythTV to Android

I use VLC on my Android phone to play music from the same directory that is accessed by MythMusic. On my backend Ubuntu box, I started Files (aka Nautilus) and used the "share this folder" option. After that, VLC could find and play the music.

Re: Myth doesn't connect to Silicon Dust tuner properly after power outage

Mythbuntu Control Panel has three options to choose from to solve this race issue for Ubuntu/Xubuntu 18.04 and 20.04.

Re: New User- Windows 10 PC

Consider dual booting. You can easily install Ubuntu and keep Windows 10 to use when desired. One of the most popular operating systems for MythTV is the long term support (LTS) Ubuntu version, which is currently 20.04. After installing the Ubuntu LTS desktop version, Mythbuntu Control Panel can hel...

Re: One channel has its audio mix mixed up (ATSC, Happauge 4 USB Tuner, HDMI output)

Does VLC play the recording okay using two channel stereo? I have never tried it, but I think the MythTV video library can be set to play videos using a player (external player) other than MythTV Frontend as explained here . You could try copying the recording to the video library, and set it to use...

Re: Working frontend

I have not tried this Android frontend, but I do use Leanfront on my Fire TV Stick (written instructions here, video instructions here).

Re: Working frontend

The Fire TV Stick and NVIDIA Shield are both good. I have had no problem with the third generation non-4K Fire TV Stick, but several people here recommend the 4K Fire TV Stick. Stay away from the Fire TV Cube. My main box has an Asus H110T board with Intel graphics with MythTV frontend and backend i...

I just checked mine with the backend installed using MCP with the PPA, and libmyth-python is installed. Not sure what happened in marcw's case.

The First Helicopter to Fly on Mars is Running Linux

The autonomous helicopter that will attempt this flight is running a Linux OS, and the open-source F' software is partially Python. "This is the first time we’ll be flying Linux on Mars. We’re actually running on a Linux operating system. The software framework that we’re using is one that we develo...

Re: Playback choppy for some recordings after upgrade to v31

I'd try the proprietary driver. It appears the issue is not MythTV related. If no one here can help, you may want to ask over on the Ubuntu forum.

Re: Playback choppy for some recordings after upgrade to v31

What graphics card are you using? Start Software & Updates, and click on the Additional Drivers tab. Are any proprietary drivers listed? Using the frontend Setup Wizard, have you tried testing all of the video playback profiles?

Re: Resurrecting a Simplified Version of Mythbuntu Control Centre

Ubuntu 18.04 is not currently included, although MCP can be installed on 18.04 by downloading the deb file. I was not planning on including 18.04 due to its age and the age of the packages such as XMLTV in the default 18.04 repository. I will plan on including 18.04 and adding a warning on the wiki ...
