The HDHomeRun Prime Lives Again

https://forum.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=131&t=74127&start=45 We'll have some more official announcement in the near future, but I've been told I can tell people if they ask me about it directly. So, yeah, it's the original PRIME, and it's in production right now. I don't think anything w...

Re: How to run mythtv-setup as user "mythtv"

...did I do something wrong that led to these troubles?

No. The X permission must be given to run mythtv-setup as the mythtv user if doing this using the command line while logged in as another user.

Re: How to run mythtv-setup as user "mythtv"

One option is to install Mythbuntu Control Panel. On the Setup tab, there is an option for running mythtv-setup as the mythtv user.

Re: How to delete all recording rules

Thanks. How do you drop the database without losing the names, details and file locations of the existing recordings? The other options are more convenient than doing a fresh install, but Mytharchive can be used to export and import the recordings and keep the metadata if you were going to install ...

Re: How to delete all recording rules

Maybe not the option you're looking for, but you could do a fresh install of MythTV v31 without keeping the database. It is possible to do a fresh install of MythTV and keep the existing recordings.

Re: Metro Detroit Comcast

Anyone here have experience with Comcast in the Metro Detroit area? Not in that location, but I do have experience with Comcast in South Florida. Maybe someone from Metro Detroit can answer, but maybe the two areas are similar. I do know there are sometimes differences based on location. Can you re...

You're welcome. Thanks for the excellent moderating. Thank you to all the MythTV developers for the wonderful software that MCP installs.

Re: Resurrecting a Simplified Version of Mythbuntu Control Centre

An option to install XMLTV was added to the System Roles tab, and an option to run the backend setup using the mythtv user was added to the Setup tab. I tested that running the backend setup as the mythtv user with MCP works to configure XMLTV to be used with Schedules Direct using MythTV v31. Also,...

Re: Recommendation systems.

One thing I like about tvmaze.com is that it lists just new episodes of mainly popular shows. I have a free tvmaze account, and I use Mythrecmaze to have MythTV automatically record the shows I follow on tvmaze.

The FCC CableCARD Mandate is Gone

The Federal Communications Commission no longer requires cable companies to support CableCARDs. Fortunately, there are other methods for MythTV to record and view cable TV content. CableCARD support is now up to the cable companies, and they will likely continue to support them for some time. https:...

Re: XMLTV grabber for Schedules Direct JSON

Just another way to do it -- run as mythtv user without creating password for mythtv:
xhost +SI:localuser:mythtv
sudo --login --user=mythtv mythtv-setup

Re: XMLTV grabber for Schedules Direct JSON

When I use Mythbuntu Control Panel to install MythTV, the mythtv user is created automatically. I have used MCP on Ubuntu and Xubuntu, so I'm not sure it will work on Mint. MCP wiki: https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Mythbuntu_Control_Panel su mythtv enter the pw you just created above. you should now be ...

Re: Channel Changing Script Not Accurate in Mythtv.

Copy it to /tmp/.
Open a terminal.
sudo su mythtv
/tmp/thisscript.sh
exit

If the above does not work, then it's something to do with MythTV running the script as the mythtv user.
