Re: Sticky keys; database location.

Thanks both.
0.27 - Yes indeed; I've been in an Nvidia backwater - trying to swim out and considering my next hardware configuration.

Sticky keys; database location.

Having used Mythtv for 12 years I feel embarrassed asking these simple questions but this is a friendly place! 1. I have a 'live' 0.27 system and I'm trying out v31. How do I turn on 'sticky keys'? I just cannot find it in FE setup. 2. If you have a household setup with (say) one backend, two fronte...

Re: Firestick 4K MythFrontend Video Frame Buffering Failed too many times.

I could not find those video settings either but will persevere. Setting opengl works on firetv 4k and avoids the frame buffering problem but I only have uk dvb standard definition recordings to check with. It looks just a bit fuzzy though is stable with the limited testing I have done. It is an imp...

Re: mythwelcome - does not shut down

Many thanks - fixed now. Very useful notes. That nvram-wakeup Restart command was one issue - I had it set to a comment, never imagining that it would then be invoked in preference to the backend closedown command! sudos and permissions also needed fixing - but not without a little drama - creating ...

Re: mythwelcome - does not shut down

Sorry - I am wrong about the mythshutdown -s - it does return 255 if setup is running! If I use the mythwelcome shutdown now option everything freezes - needs a power off at the main switch and power on again. The /usr/sbin/poweroff works from a terminal- no sudo needed, and that is set in the shutd...

Re: mythwelcome - does not shut down

mythshutdown --help also shows 255 not 256.

Re: mythwelcome - does not shut down

Thanks for the very prompt reply - puts me to shame. I put a --logpath on the mythshutdown --shutdown setting. That told me two things: a) --shutdown calls --setwakeup. I did not know that! b) I did not have permissions on rtc. fixed and setwakeup.sh is now returning zero. That allowed further progr...

Re: mythwelcome - does not shut down

I have the same problem. Setup: AMD/Nvidia frontend/backend, stable with Ubuntu 14.04 and 0.27. New SSD disk: Ubuntu 20.04, Myth 31 set up with MCC. UK channel scanning, EIT, recording, playback are all ok but mythwelcome does not close down. Logging added to Setwakup shows it is called every 30 sec...

Re: Has anyone written a backup script?

I wrote a script to do daily database backups under 0.27 but it should work with 31. See autobackup.sh in the wiki.
Another script copies and updates a 'best' subset of recordings to a spare partition. See autobackup.pl.
These may give you some pointers or ideas.

Re: Wiki 'categories'

I have added a page:
https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Refresh_Category_Pages
but it seems to get lost in the noise of HOWTO.

Re: Wiki 'categories'

I think I've solved it. The problem seems to be that the server is caching the category pages and the cache needs to be updated. Over at MediaWiki support I was advised to try purging it with https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Category:HOWTO?action=purge but I could not get that to work. What did work was ...

Wiki 'categories'

I have been out of the picture on this forum for a while stuck on 0.27 with graphics doldrums, but version 31 is looking very stable even with my old nvidia. Thanks developers!! My channel editor needed a tweak to cater for the changes in the API and I have been updating the wiki: https://www.mythtv...

Re: Shingle disks?

Thanks for the reply. An interesting approach.
Do you have any mechanism for expiring recordings when even the shingle disk gets full? My understanding is that Myth's expiration only happens if you are recording directly to the partition.

Shingle disks?

What is the consensus here on use of shingle disk for recordings (assuming operating system and database are on ssd)? That's also assuming you can tell which disks are shingle!
