Re: Another case of Decoder timed out waiting for free video buffers

No one? this only happens to me? I believe this problem is frontend related and not backend..? strange that all my 5 frontends suffer the same issue. I sometimes see a freeze at the hour change (such as 7:00) but these usually recover before the timeout occurs. I also see a "Please Wait..." message ...

Another case of Decoder timed out waiting for free video buffers

Hi all, I have a 5 computer MythTV setup, 1 combined BE/FE and 4 FEs with varied hardware setups, ranging from a 10+ year-old BE/FE with a GT210 graphics card, a RaspberryPi 3, a couple of low-power computers with integrated nVidia graphic cards, a more powerful desktop (for 4K viewing) with a GeFor...

Re: Garbage playing UHD movie on 4K TV with vdpau only

Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately I don't know what "zero copy" means, nor "prevent sideshow". :) I've been having pretty good stability with 418 but I do get some wierdness with hdmi sound. I need to put my FE to sleep and then wakeup to get proper 5.1 sound sent out. If I reboot it, there's n...

Re: Garbage playing UHD movie on 4K TV with vdpau only

Hi pgbennett, first of all thanks for all your hard work on getting mythtv frontends working so well on Raspberry Pi's. One of my frontends plays fine on an "HD" 1280x720 screen using your "bennettpeter" ppa :) Yeah, I figured that using VAAPI on an nVidia card didn't actually produce any GPU accele...

Re: Garbage playing UHD movie on 4K TV with vdpau only

Seems I'm SOL with VDPAU ever supporting HEVC_MAIN_10 so I managed to configure mythtv using VAAPI profile for HEVC codecs. I know VAAPI is for Intel hardware acceleration but it seems to provide near-stutter-free playback of my UHD movie on my nvidia GTX1050 card even if it keeps my quad-core I3 pr...

Re: Garbage playing UHD movie on 4K TV with vdpau only

I think I may have found the problem... but how to fix it? According to ffprobe, the mkv video format is: Stream #0:0(eng): Video: hevc (Main 10), yuv420p10le(tv, bt2020nc/bt2020/smpte2084), 3840x2160 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 1k tbn, 23.98 tbc" And according to vdpauinfo, the video ...

Garbage playing UHD movie on 4K TV with vdpau only

Hi all, I have a mythtv 29.0 setup on xubuntu 18.04 with several HD frontends. I recently setup a new, more powerful computer for eventual UHD playback. I have nvidia 418.56 driver with an nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 video card, using vdpau high quality profile configured on it, connected to a 65" Samsu...

[SOLVED] Re: rpi model 3B+, mythtv-light and POE HAT fan control

So, to answer my own question, in case it might be useful to others in the same situation as I was: I decided to back up my SD card and proceed with all upgrades to see what would happen: apt-get update rpi-update apt-get upgrade apt-get dist-upgrade I did a reboot and tried a playback after each ch...

rpi model 3B+, mythtv-light and POE HAT fan control

I was successfully using a previous model 3B pi following the setup instructions found in the wiki so I installed the 2017-11-29 version of raspbian stretch. I then later decided to upgrade to a model 3B+ pi so I could use the POE HAT and do away with the power supply and wire since the front end ru...

Re: Any Stable Mythtv Distrobutions out there?

When my previous myth setup started to get old (no more support), I tried and tried all sorts of different setups on the second partition of my dual-boot disk and nothing worked well enough for me to consider doing the switch for good. I tried LinHES and was never able to get it running (so much for...

Re: Mythvideo and the path to the videos

Hi Bill, I didn't use storage groups because the documentation mentionned that the implementation was incomplete or had problems, I don't remember the exact terms and since I used some nfs mounts with autofs in the past, I just decided to re-implement the same setup for that as on 0.23 Yes, I am ref...

Mythvideo and the path to the videos

Hi all, I don't use storage groups so I specify the path where the videos are stored directly in the Mythvideo setup. This path is /mnt/disk3/mythtv/videos/ I selected to see the directory structure since I created a folder for each movie and then all the disks part of that movie are listed there. I...

Re: Since last mythtv update, events not received at remote frontends

Ok, please disregard... It seems that removing xfce4-power-manager will also make System Events stop working on remote frontends.
I've re-enabled it and all is good once more. Go figure.

Since last mythtv update, events not received at remote frontends

There was a recent mythtv update received on my combined backend/frontend and my 3 remote frontends. I have several scripts called by the event handler configuration available in the mythfrontend configuration pages. It seems my remote frontends are not receiving these events anymore? I checked that...

Re: Suggestion for a decent, currently-available remote/ir pair for Linux frontend

I, and others, have found that Flirc is very good option for a pain free and relatively easy setup. https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Flirc +1 on the Flirc and any IR remote you fancy. When I upgraded my old Mythbuntu 10.04 setup to recent 29.0 mythtv running on xubuntu 18.04, I tried to continue using s...
