Re: Record this showing but ..

The backend log did not indicate any issues.

Affter running through the backend setup yet again and finding nothing out of place I powered down and rebooted.

Now when I press "R" to record, the EPG changes to reflect that and recordings are now taking place.
I have no explanation.

[SOLVED] Record this showing but ..

This has been going on for about ten days. I set something to "Record thus showing" or "Record all showings" but when I check it says "Not recording" and it doesn't. I thought it might be permissions but: alan@albury:/home/mythtv$ ls -als total 40 4 drwxrwxr-x 10 mythtv mythtv 4096 Jul 4 22:08 . 4 d...

Re: Status report interpretation

Thank you, you pointed me in the right direction. I eliminated LocalHostName from /~.mythtv/config.xml I also eliminated a line in /etc/hosts that pointed to 127.0.0.1 but was not localhost although that was there too. I had reset everything in the backend using /usr/bin/mythtv-setup. It starts very...

Re: Status report interpretation

I installed mythtv from the Mint 20.04 repository. mythtv-status is one of the items that was installed. It is a perl script. http://localhost:6544/Status/GetStatus returns "problem loading page". Moving away from mythtv-status, when I try to bring up the frontend, it just says that it cannot find t...

Status report interpretation

I had to install mythtv backend on what had been a remote frontend only. I changed all the address pointers to the new backend and completed the setup including the channel scan. BUT the frontend wasn't happy. I knew that the TV drivers worked properly as I have had kaffeine running on it since I in...

Re: Drive a smart TV by Wi-Fi

I am guessing that Leanfront on the Firestick can be pointed at the MythTV backend's static IP address.

Anyway, thank you for introducing me to LeanFront.

Drive a smart TV by Wi-Fi

Until a week ago I could drive my Samsung smart TV via an HDMI cable.

Then I moved to a new home that prevents my MythTV machine from connecting by cable.

However both the TV and the HTPC are wifi enabled. Is there a way in which I can stream from the latter to the TV?

TIA

Re: Jerky live TV on version 31

I have narrowed the problem down a little: a) Viewing SD and HD recordings on MythTV backend server 's frontend - Perfect b) Viewing live SD and HD TV on the same frontend - Perfect c) Viewing SD and HD recordings on remote (connected by wi-fi) - Perfect d) Viewing live SD TV on remote frontend (con...

Jerky live TV on version 31

I have been slowly eliminating problems on my backend server. I am left with jerkiness of the live TV on my remote frontend but not on the local frontend. The remote has always been cable connected to the modem-router but the backend server was connected by WI-FI. Suspecting the WI-FI, I disabled it...

Re: Recording options

I can get into recording Rules but there are no options but a table of recording rules.
I can edit each one individually but not set global options, which is what i wanted to do.

Thank you anyway.

Recording options

I habitually set the start time back by a minute and the end time forward by the same.

Is it possible to set these as defaults?

Occasional Glitch

I am running MythTV version 31.0. I watch both live TV and recordings from a remote front end. The backend is running on mint 20.04. It is not running any other applications. Although I have the remote frontend displaying the "Watch recordings" window, nothing is selected. It communicates with the b...

Re: Recordings sporadically fail

I seem to have posted many problems over the years so I have the replies to rely on. How is your backend server driven? Is it wired or wireless? Have you had any power cuts locally. My area recently suffered several tiny cuts. Sometimes enough to kill the oven clocks, sometimes just the computer. So...

Mythtv - wrong screen

I am running mythtv-frontend 31 on Mint 20. My desktop system has two screens. I only watch TV or recordings on the left-hand screen. Mint uses xfdrake to generate xorg.conf. It looks fine, The screens are driven by separate video cards. I can drag everything (in a widow) from screen to screen if ch...

Re: Reboot required periodically

A few days ago I re-sited a wif-fi signal booster further away from the router but closer to the machine hosting mythtv.
The result is that there has been a huge improvement.
I am going mark this [SOLVED]
Thank you.
