Re: frontend can't connect to DB after IP address changed

That did the trick. I would swear that I had configured it as your Wiki reference specified -- to use localhost as the backend address. But when I switched to the hard-wired connection, I may have tried to out-smart myself by editing my ~/.mythtv config.xml to manually refer to the new IP address an...

[Solved] frontend can't connect to DB after IP address changed

I have am running MythTV v29. Backend/Frontend on the same box. Recently switched the box from a Wifi connection to a hard-wired ethernet connection. Now neither the backend nor the frontend can find the mythconverg database. Checking the status of the mythtv-backend service yields Process: 3473 Exe...

Suspend hangs with WinTV-HVR 995Q tuner

I'm running MythTV v29 under Ubuntu 18.04 (Bionic Beaver) on a Dell N7010 laptop using a WinTV-HVR-955Q USB tuner stick. All software was installed from the default Ubuntu apt repositories. Almost everything is working as expected. I can use MythTV to watch live TV, tune channels, record TV, and wat...

Re: Is is possible to adjust RecordingQuality threshold

Bit maps! Wow. I haven't used bit maps since I was writing assembly code in the '90s. I love it! Thanks for the reference. I certainly wouldn't have figured that one out for myself. Looks like it's a toss-up between a search of the backend log and a call to GetRecorded. Thanks again. You're a life-s...

Re: Is is possible to adjust RecordingQuality threshold

Thanks for the quick response. You're the BEST! I was hoping to avoid searching the backend log, though that may be the simplest solution, especially since the CHANID and STARTTIME are known and I could just search for "Recording => Recorder Failed" or something. MySQL was my next thought, but I was...

Re: Is is possible to adjust RecordingQuality threshold

Bill: I searched the API Wiki but didn't see anything. Is there an API that would allow me to query a specific recording to obtain either its assigned "Overall Score" or "Recording Quality" or even to get the status such as is shown in the Previously Recorded list (i.e. Recorder Failed)? I'd like to...

Re: Is is possible to adjust RecordingQuality threshold

Perfect. I probably would have searched all day and not looked for an API to do it. Thanks a bunch.

Is is possible to adjust RecordingQuality threshold

Some stations in my area broadcast a marginal signal. In such cases, that results in gaps in the recorded program. Most of the time, the recordings are watchable. I just have to tolerate a few jumps now and then. But MythTV seems to have some internal metric (RecordingQuality or Overall Score) which...

Re: UserJob failed after recording complete

This can be marked as SOLVED. I don't know how to do that.

Edit: Just edit the Subject: of the initial post (which has been done.)

Re: UserJob failed after recording complete

Thanks Bill. You rescued me again. The command (HandBrakeCLI) is in the user's path. But the recording itself was not. When I fully elaborated the path to the recording, the UserJob ran as expected. All of my manual testing was done with my Present Working Directory set to the MythTV recordings fold...

[Solved] UserJob failed after recording complete

I'm running MythTV v29 on Ubuntu 18.04. I'm trying to use handbrake to transcode a standard MythTV recording to mp4. No commercial removal, cutlist, or anything like that. Just a simple transcode from one container to another. Scheduled recordings are completed as expected and the UserJob is initiat...

CEC connection fails after TV turned off, then On again

I originally posted this topic on the Troubleshooting forum, but having received no replies there, I thought I'd try the General form to see if anyone here has any ideas. Here's my issue: When I start the MythTV remote frontend on a Raspberry Pi which is connected via HDMI to my LGTV, it connects pr...

CEC remote control fails after TV turned off then on again

When I start the MythTV remote frontend on a Raspberry Pi which is connected via HDMI to my LGTV, it connects properly to my backend and to the LGTV to which it is connected. As desired, the LGTV remote control works via MythTV's CEC-HDMI connection to control the MythTV frontend. The Raspberry Pi i...

Re: Auto-transcode doesn't work

I discovered my mistake. In Backend Setup > Recording Profiles, my MythTV Backend lists four items: 1 Hardware DVB Encovers 2 (A profile Group I defined using "Create new profile group) 3 Transcoders 4 (Create new profile group) I selected #2 (the profile group I had created for myself) and, having ...

Re: How to Delete a recording from a User Job script?

Thanks bill. Precisely what I was looking for. Works like a charm. Looks like I need to improve my search skills because I'd swear that I searched for "MythTV API" and didn't find anything. At any rate, I've bookmarked the API page now. And - double-bonus - I've also learned about "curl"! Thanks too...
