Re: Builds

Hello: Ok - it seems I'm something of an arse. Mythsetup was not crashing due to an error with the pre-schema-upgrade backups failing (well - yes, they were failing - but that wasn't causing a crash). In fact, Mythsetup was just exiting because I had told it to do so: It appears that the two screens...

Re: Builds

Hi: I don't think the issue is that it can't find the script (or possibly mysqldump?). Here's more stuff from the log file - you'll see it tries the Perl script first, and fails. 2018-07-14 21:41:57.708528 I [54837/775] CoreContext schemawizard.cpp:120 (Compare) - Current MythTV Schema Version (DBSc...

Wiki Editing Access

Hello:

I want to contribute some minor updates to the Mac OS Wiki pages - for which I presume I need an account. Do I ask here for an admin to get me started with this?

Thanks!

Re: Builds

Hmmm, dbutil.cpp hasn't been touched in 3 years: Ah - ok. In which case I'll get my PR finished off without waiting on getting this fixed - at least it won't be in a worse position than it is currently then. I'd still like to fix this - but building a debugging setup is taking a while for someone w...

Re: Builds

Hi Craig: The main one I'm looking to address is that, on setting up a fresh install, Myth-Setup crashes when it attempts to update the (empty) database schema - there's an options file it's expecting, but which isn't present: 2018-06-23 08:57:20.824296 E [17380/775] CoreContext dbutil.cpp:722 (DoBa...

Re: Builds

What is the current state of build scripts for version 29 on OS X? I found warpme's pre-compiled frontend, but I also need the backend. It doesn't look like macports includes 29 yet. I'm willing to compile it myself, but not to go through what I'm sure is dependency hell to get it to work. Has anyb...

Re: v0.29 Mythtv released

Hello: FYI: I've had some time off this week, so have been able to dig into this a bit further. Sfatula - many thanks for sending over your build scripts - much appreciated, and I learnt a lot about the build process from going through it. With only a little modification, I was able to get them succ...

Re: v0.29 Mythtv released

I got no PM on this forum. There are none in my private messages. Oh - how odd. I've just sent it again. Put it back in the app store as it used to be, if that was possible, else, just an installer to be downloaded from mythtv. So, the simplest possible install as I felt that would increase adoptio...

Re: v0.29 Mythtv released

Hi, Many thanks - I PM'ed you my email earlier. There were tons of time and experiments needed to get versions, environment variables, etc right for the backend. And you say back end only, but, some back end things use python too. And then you have the processes that use the backend, etc. Yes - I'm ...

Re: v0.29 Mythtv released

Thanks sfatula - I'll PM my email address over to you. Of course, I'm primarily interested in the backend - I use Kodi for the front-end anyway, and tend to just use the Myth front-end for bug checking and admin-like bits only. Based on what you've written, I'll try diving in and building from scrat...

Re: v0.29 Mythtv released

@pvrme - Thanks for the reply Craig, and sorry for not acknowledging it sooner! I quite understand the problem of real life getting in the way here - just thankful for the work you've put into the project so far! @sfatula - I see that you've got a working v29 through your own build process. Is there...

Re: v0.29 Mythtv released

Hello:

Is there a plan to release 29.1 under MacPorts? I don't want to lean too heavily on your generosity Craig, but I'm just making plans for changing my setup!

Thanks.

Re: MythTV 29.1 Release

Hello: Thanks for your replies - it's reassuring to read your responses. Seeing the 29.1 release come out, and seemingly no-one take note of it made me worry for the future of the project. However, I'm glad to see that's nothing to worry about! As for the number people using mythtv 0.29 check out ht...

MythTV 29.1 Release

Hello: I see that MythTV 29.1 has been released - but I'm curious about a couple of things here: The release page states that "For various reasons, we have chosen not to distribute pre-compiled binary versions of MythTV" - what is that all about? Surely it's going to raise the barrier to entry for a...
