mythzoneminder

I couldn't spot a sub-forum for plugins so that's why I'm posting this here. I just installed mythzmserver on my v1.34 ZM server and am viewing in on a new v.31 Myth FE. I got it to mostly work, no thanks to the Mythzoneminder wiki, but have a problem. The Console view of mythzoneminder says it's ru...

preventing mythtv.cnf updates??

In the short period I've had my stand alone v.31 BE running, every single myth update (3 so far) has updated my /etc/mysql/conf.d/mythtv.cnf file and apt update shouldn't be doing that. The updates insist on commenting the first line like this: [mysqld] #bind-address=0.0.0.0 max_connections=100 So a...

Re: tmdb3 crashes

The BE seems to have launched tmdb3 successfully on its its own. Must be an internal scheduler. I noticed in the BE log that it seems to have grabbed data for a couple dozen TV shows so it must be working even though I'm not sure what it does with that data. So it's clear now that the issue was caus...

Re: tmdb3 crashes

Thanks for helping. Sorry about any poor formatting. Please post the version of the OS and mythtv. In a terminal, run uname -a mythbackend --version marcw@myth-be:~$ uname -a Linux myth-be 5.8.0-43-generic #49~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Feb 5 09:57:56 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux marcw@myth-b...

[Solved] tmdb3 crashes

I've recently installed v31 as a standalone BE. (The database was restored from v28). It seems to be working well except I see a lot of tmdb3 crashes. Like daily. I'm not sure what tmdb3 does or even what it is except google tells me it's a python script that provides movie and TV info. Aside from t...

Re: no DB connection after updates

Thanks for the tips, they helped to eventually point to the issue, now resolved. It seems that the updates I did yesterday replaced my /etc/mysql/conf.d/mythtv.cnf file. It commented the first line so it looked like this: [mysqld] #bind-address=0.0.0.0 max_connections=100 I uncommented that line, re...

[Solved] no DB connection after updates

I've got a fresh (not upgade) v.31 BE that I've had working well now about a week after 5+ years on v.28. I noticed tonight that there were a few myth updates (four, I think) available so I grabbed them. The updates went well. Unfortunately afterward, the BE can't connect to the database (mysql). Ju...

Re: upgrade from scratch

Thanks! I suspect I may be starting the process within a week or so. Still working on the WAF. Hopefully I'll be relaying success results as I go rather that SOS requests.

Re: upgrade from scratch

Thanks for that tip! Wow, that MCP has sure come a long ways since last I saw it! Matter of fact, I'm now thinking I'm going to try it. My main concern with the whole upgrade process isn't the new OS, (done that dozens of times), or even the new XMLTV for Schedules Direct. It seems like the MCP hand...

Re: upgrade from scratch

At first glance your PC instructions look like the winning entry. Your hardware looks similar to mine. I'll study the rest of the blog before I dig in. Thanks!

upgrade from scratch

I'm thinking it's time to upgrade all my v28.2 boxes on ubuntu 16.04 to the latest myhttv (v31?) on 20.04. They will all be fresh installs from scratch. Will a database backup (to my NAS) from my v28.2 BE properly restore to my new v31 BE? Same hardware. Or will there be additional hoops to jump thr...

Live TV channel change fails for just one channel

New .28 install with one BE and several FEs. Channel changing of Live OTA TV works fine on all channels except for one (4.1) and I'll be darned if I can figure out the reason. I get about 50 OTA channels (12 primary with a bunch of subs) and can get to any of them on all my FEs except for channel 4....

PbP not working?

Before I open a bug report I thought I'd see if anyone else has seen the same thing. I can't get PbP working. My other PiP controls are working fine. I'm using the default keybindings for all of them - B, N, V, Ctrl-V - but it's only Ctrl-V (PbP) that's not working. And when I say not working it's s...

Frontend > setup > edit keys > main menu.
Check EXIT triggered by Esc
EXITPROMPT blank.
Not other way round.
Then exit and restart frontend.
Hope this works.

This was exactly the correct solution. Thanks so much!
