Re: Transcoding jobs not working all of a sudden

try using

Code: Select all

sudo su mythtv -c '/home/ben/Scripts/myth_h264_transcode --starttime 20201205054300 --chanid 80090 --title "The Garden Gurus" --outdir /home/ben/Videos'
This will run the command as the mythtv user.

Re: Transcoding jobs not working all of a sudden

The crf and preset defaults should be fine, I use similar for HD recordings. The file size increase is at least partially due to de-interlacing.

For the user job try using %STARTTIMEUTC% insted of %STARTTIME% in your command.

Re: Transcoding jobs not working all of a sudden

from an earlier thread. https://forum.mythtv.org/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=4094 As of v31, MythTV does not support transcoding of h264.ts files (transport stream containing h.264 encoded video) via "mythtranscode". The Menu "M --> Job Options --> Begin Transcoding" is intended to transcode mpeg2video str...

Re: Scanning ts file for "actual" playback quality?

After some digging, as far as I can tell the recording quality is only a measure of dts/pts gaps and continuity errors. I wrote a scrip to count assorted errors from FFmpeg. To see if a recording may have any playback issues. Basically more errors while decoding would suggest there are going to be i...

Re: New ATSC tuners

Multirec works fine on HDHomerun tuners, Its the prime(cablecard) and the extend(transcoding) that can only do a single stream per tuner.

As for the network bandwidth you are only looking at a maximum of 20Mbps per ATSC tuner.

Re: encode job failing

Been a while since I've looked at that code. You are correct that it an issue with processing the starttime. I eventually added logic to workaround these issues. Any specific feature you were looking to use? have a look at https://github.com/daraden/transcode-myth . It has most of the same features ...

Re: How Do You Convert Recordings to MP4 for Chromecast

Had not tried MythTV Player for Android, loaded it up this morning. As expected seeking is pretty much nonexistent for mpeg2, to add to that the internal player seems to lack an ac-3 decoder. H.264 with aac works fine though. Took a look at the Mythbrake script, found a few things that may be issues...

Re: How Do You Convert Recordings to MP4 for Chromecast

I have no experience with the scripts you mention, had issues with mythtranscode and a different script years ago and ended up rolling my own script to process recordings. My current process is record with MythTV > edit to mark commercials > Transcode out to mp4 > playback through Emby app on Roku/w...

Re: Anyone want to help troubleshoot my transcode script?

With Ffmpeg its not so much hard-coding them as it is preserving the top lines of the video frame that already has the closed caption data.

I asked about the cut-list, as I have not used mythtranscode in a long time and I am not sure if it will preserve the closed caption data.

Re: Anyone want to help troubleshoot my transcode script?

That is odd, have you tested playback with other media players? You may want to try updating to a more recent version of ffmpeg(without libzvbi). Are you running with a cut-list? With eia-608/cea-709 closed captions you wont see subtitle streams since the data is actually encoded into the video. Wit...

Re: Anyone want to help troubleshoot my transcode script?

ATSC should be eia-608/cea-709 closed captions. With ffmpeg versions prior to ~3.2 required "-a53cc 1" to preserve closed captions in mpeg2/h264. newer versions have it enabled by default. My initial thought was '-scodec dvb_teletext' may be throwing a warning causing it to have a non 0 return. give...

Re: Anyone want to help troubleshoot my transcode script?

I've never used mythtv System() to run subprocesses, it looks like a custom wraper for popen. Not sure if it is intended to be used with non-myth commands. os.remove('%s.map' % tmpfile) should not do anything since sys.exit was called. That assumes System() is correctly throwing a MythError exceptio...

Re: Anyone want to help troubleshoot my transcode script?

Anything in the backend log? Have you tried running the ffmpeg command directly? Is dvb_teletext listed as an encoder in your ffmpeg build? documentation suggests libzvbi is only a decoder. Are you sure you have teletext subtitles and not eia-608/cea-709 closed captions? Why all the effort with the ...

Re: Windows Version ?

If you are on Windows 10 you could try running the Ubuntu packages through WSL(Windows subsystem for Linux).
