as you have installed libdvdread you can run:

Code: Select all

~$ sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
Success! That worked.
Thanks very much for your help - much appreciated.

Re: Playing DVDs in Myth Frontend

OK, so I have libdvdnav4 and libdvdread4, but not libdvdcss. My guess is that perhaps the basic menus on DVDs aren't encrypted, so it's only when you try to play some actual content (presumably encrypted) that the lack of libdvdcss causes Myth frontend to give up. Does that make sense? I tried insta...

Re: Playing DVDs in Myth Frontend

I would start frontend from terminal with more logging, as a guess try:- mythfrontend -v playback or mythfrontend.real -v playback (mythbuntu used a script wrapper) Was still running 14.04 about 1 year ago but I've always built/run master.. 0.27 is a long time ago so don't remember. If you've not p...

Re: Playing DVDs in Myth Frontend

Yes. Can hit <m> as disc starts & select "navigate to title menu". Thanks. I tried that and was indeed able to navigate to the title menu. So far, so good. However, as soon as I tried to select something from the menu, the disc did not play and Myth frontend just returned to its own Video Utilities...

Playing DVDs in Myth Frontend

I've been experimenting with Myth frontend's ability to play DVDs. Before I ask some questions, there's one preliminary thing I need to ask, because if the answer is "no", then I don't need to go any further. The question is this: is it possible to play a DVD in Myth frontend such that I can skip al...

Re: Astrometa DVB-T2 USB stick

Sorry for the delay in this follow up - I had a minor medical issue that is now sorted. After following the links Mike kindly supplied, I was able to get the Astrometa DVB-T2 stick working well, so my grateful thanks to Mike for his pointers. The Acer Revo 3600 I'm using doesn't seem to have enough ...

Re: Programme Guide, HD and SD channels

At first glance it looks strange, but all it is doing is telling you that the program will be recorded, not necessarily on which channel. Upcoming recordings screen has that detail. OK, understood. If you always prefer HD there is an option to tell mythtv. In mythtv frontend go to Setup>Video>Recor...

Re: Programme Guide, HD and SD channels

If you set a program to record that's on multiple channels at the same time and you don't want to record all of them, then use one or more of the many filters to isolate the one or more you do want to record. I think you've misunderstood. It doesn't record both programmes - only the one that was sc...

Mine does the same and Programme Finder also.
I'd expect Program Finder to do that - you clearly want to know which channels are broadcasting the programme.

But for the EPG to indicate it's going to record something that it won't seems a bit strange.

Programme Guide, HD and SD channels

I'm experimenting with getting Freeview HD working. (MythTV 29.1 running on Xubuntu 18.10, BTW). Progress is being made, but one thing has perplexed me: After setting up a recording on an HD channel (eg. BBC1 HD, channel 101), the programme guide shows that it will be recorded on both the HD and SD ...

Astrometa DVB-T2 USB stick

I'm experimenting with building a new Myth backend so I can record Freeview HD channels. (My current backend only has SD tuners). The intention is to get one of those Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD USB sticks, but for the time being I'm playing around with an old Astrometa stick I have lying about. Accordin...

Re: WinTV-DualHD

Just stumbled across this. I've been happily using a Sony PlayTV for my Freeview MythTV system, but of course it's SD only. Seems like this WinTV-DualHD is the USB DVB-T2 twin tuner I've been waiting for. I understand it needs at least Linux 4.18, but is there a minimum version of MythTV required to...

Any new developments with DVB-T tuners?

Over the years I've used a variety of DVB-T tuners on Myth backends. Hauppauge WinTV PCI devices, KWorld UB499 dual tuner stick (which died), and at present a Sony PlayTV box. But they have all had the same fundamental issue of not coping well with slight interference on the broadcast Freeview signa...

Re: Updated Freeview TV Guide issue

Many thanks for the replies, have disabled interactive TV on the RPi frontend and all is now fine.
I didn't realise it was MythTV that was popping up this message - I thought it was the TV interpreting something in the video stream.
