Re: WinTV-DualHD

6 HD channels down a single USB 2 interface seems adventurous, mind you there is never that much on worth watching. Best of luck.
I resrtict mine to 4.

Re: WinTV-DualHD

The driver for WinTV-DualHD works fine in kernel 4.18 I have been using it for the last 3 months as part of Ubuntu 18.10.

Re: No lock when changing channels

Things to try:- If live TV is more reliable than recording change the quicktune setting in the tuner setup so that it is the same for both. Check that EIT (if used) is only selected for one tuner. If you only use one of the tuners ie delete the second one in mythtvsetup is the system completely reli...

Re: No lock when changing channels

The driver for the TBS DVB cards is not included in the kernel. I don't understand how you get any signal.
See https://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/TBS6980 for the link to the open source driver

Re: Channel Scanning on DVB-S(2)

For the UK follow these instructions http://parker1.co.uk/mythtv_freesat.php . I always do a Full Scan (tuned) providing parameters for one channel as shown in the link. Apart from the single Frequency parameter everything can be left as auto if your tuner can self detect these parameters. I have no...

Re: Master 0.28 Increase in Frequency of 0 Byte recordings

mythtv 0.28 with Ubuntu 14.04.2 is currently reliable but your better off sticking with 0.27 fixes, if you are having other hardware issues. At least you then know its not myth that is causing them. If you installed 14.04.2 from iso you will be running the 3.16 kernel, which I had problems with. Ins...

Re: Master 0.28 Increase in Frequency of 0 Byte recordings

The major improvement with XHCI (USB) reliability in Ubunty Trusty 14.04.2 (both the 3.13 & 3.16 kernels) relates I think specifically to Intel Haswell processors and NUCs.
The issue where you cannot run two USB tuners of the same type still remains.

Re: Good enough hardware for backend?

Yes, I have used one for years as a combined front and back end, supporting 2 HD tuners. Ubuntu 12.04 is stable on it. Had some reliability issues with later versions but have not tried again recently.

Re: Master 0.28 Increase in Frequency of 0 Byte recordings

This issue has not re-occurred since updating to Ubuntu 14.04.2 even when sticking to kernel 3:13, suspect it was a USB3 issue fixed by a bug fix to xhci.

Re: TBS6280: Poor SNR when tuned to HD channels

That close to the transmitter I would suspect signal over load. If removing all forms of amplification from the signal path has not worked try one of these. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aerial-Coaxial-Cable-Variable-Attenuator/dp/B007A0S8L6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425030252&sr=8-1&keywords=variable+tv+at...

Re: Master 0.28 Increase in Frequency of 0 Byte recordings

Some more info:- Looking at the last two lines - the tuner achieves lock but this is not recognised by the tuning signal check. Once this state is entered all future tuning requests on that tuner fail identically. Jan 13 21:04:56 tv mythbackend: mythbackend[3060]: I EIT tv_rec.cpp:3175 (QueueEITChan...

Master 0.28 Increase in Frequency of 0 Byte recordings

Just to provide more info around the issue of 0 byte recordings on 0.28 Master being discussed in the development forum. I record DVB from both Freesat (PCI) & Freeview in the UK (USB). I have never experienced any failed recordings with the PCI based Freesat recorder. The USB based Freeview recorde...

Ignore the point above concerning channel scan for DVB-T2. I have just tested it using a build from Nov 19th - worked fine.

Re: PCTV 290e dvb-t2 signal problems after update

Having re-read the first post carefully I note that your troubles started with a channel scan, what version of Mythtv are you using? I note that there was a change to the DVB-T2 scanning code. "Add support for explicitly recognising QAM-256 with DVB-T2" https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/commit/99688e...

Re: PCTV 290e dvb-t2 signal problems after update

This is very strange my 290e is absolutely fine on 14.04 so it must be a reception issue. Remember when you tested using windows the channels tuned to could have been different ie from another transmitter. So check your tuned to the correct HD muxes for your area - although I cant see how the upgrad...
