Re: Backend on Pi 4

Thanks for the response, I will retry that configuration but it has always given me a picture that shows slight judder when panning. I am guessing that the difference might be in the broadcast format, presumably yours is not interlaced?

Re: mysql error reading comm packets

Check the database - seehttps://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual ... aintenance
Mythweb also has database checks as part of its tools.

Re: Backend on Pi 4

Mythtv combo FE/BE on Raspberry Pi 4B with 4GB, 1TB SSD, with rootfs is as good as my production mythtv-backend with a Shield TV frontend. Other than having 8TB of mirrored RAID storage, the Pi does everything. Since I never record more than 4 HD shows at once on the production system, the Pi can d...

Re: myth 30 freesat scanning uk

Those images look correct. I still can't easily run setup to give you the exact key strokes but the problem possibly lies in the way the HCI works. At a guess you are just hitting the Full Scan Tuned in the Scan Type input in the first image. You have to seed the scan with the parameters I posted ea...

Re: myth 30 freesat scanning uk

I can't run setup at the moment, somebody is using the system. Will do so in the morning and record what I do. If you can't see the symbol rate parameters, setup thinks that you are trying to configure a none satellite adapter ie DVB-T. Are you using the latest version of Myth 30. Does the adapter s...

Render branch on Pi 4
Thanks using the following :-
./configure --enable-proc-opt --disable-mmal --disable-xrandr --disable-vdpau
got me near to your library usage and that now runs with the issues as you describe them.

Re: myth 30 freesat scanning uk

I am not clear what your problem is. I find the user interface at v30, (improved in master I believe) for setting up both the LNB and performing the channel scan, both quite difficult to use so there is plenty of scope for it not working. There is no need to set LNB frequencies if you have a simple ...

Re: refinding metadata

Try clearing the metadata cache.
I cannot remember where that particular cache is located.
The following will clear all the frontend caches.
cd ~
rm -rf .mythtv/cache
Temporarily renaming the directory would of course be a less drastic approach.

Re: Raspbian OS updated to Buster

Which pre-compile configuration options did you use for the render branch on Pi? It doesn't run with the defaults and I am presuming that those stated in the Pi Wiki are not correct for the render branch.

Re: Backend on Pi 4

Thanks for the response to the RTC issue. Presumably as there is no ACPI wakeup from a timer? You either leave it on all the time or manually power it up when needed. Presumably a mains timer could be used for normal recording hours with a crontab to shut the Pi down before the power gets axed. Have...

Re: Backend on Pi 4

Thanks for the very useful looking script for setting up the backend, would have saved me hours. Did you install a RTC? My Pi takes a good minute from power on to set the clock from the network. Calling sudo ntpdate-debian at start doesn't seem to work. BBC Sounds locks up when the clock is behind r...

Re: Backend on Pi 4

The backend runs fine on a 2GB Pi 4. Recorded 3 HD channels 1080i to a usb2 hard drive from a DVB2 - USB2 tuner. I installed Rasbian and had the database on the SD card and recorded to an external USB2 drive. Would have been easier to put everything on the external drive, preferably USB3. Running th...

Re: Backend on Pi 4

I would expect it to be a full backend supporting any USB tuner that has drivers built into the kernel (would need an external disk drive obviously). I will try it this weekend an post the results.
