Re: Metadata lookup causes Backend to deadlock

Yes sounds the same. Unfortunately there is nothing in the backend log you could look for. The issue has never occurred for me without the frontend running. The frontend string "This happens when the backend is too busy to respond" is unique to this situation, so could be used to trigger a reset of ...

Re: devel/2019-render branch on Pi

Status update for Pi4 & current master. mythfrontend version: master [v31-Pre-1669-gbdfb7690ba] UK TV ---1080i 25Hz freeview & freesat The frontend now correctly detects the display to be 50Hz. Picture quality is good but there is still tearing during panning. I get the best results by selecting MMA...

Metadata lookup causes Backend to deadlock

I had this problem about a year a go with version 30 and then it went away. Its come back with latest master and seems to occur more often. v31-Pre-1674-g1c97471de5 It does not happen every time and may occur more often for a recording rule for which no recordings exist yet. Typically the log shows ...

Re: Possible to recover from mysql backup to new mariadb setup?

No an in place upgrade did not work for me, If you are using MySQL 8.0 or above, you have to use mysqldump to move your database to MariaDB. See https://mariadb.com/kb/en/upgrading-from-mysql-to-mariadb/ . It may be ok however using earlier versions of mysql. However I had no troulbles using https:/...

Re: Backend status query

Presumably your system is working. Versions of mythtv prior to current master seem to produce a lot of spurious messages concerning tuning. I believe that it is due to using the old DVBv3 API. Version 31 (current master) has a major re-write of the DVB interface using the DVBv5 API which seems to el...

devel/2019-render branch on Pi

v31-Pre-1448-gd9367aad5d I am getting good with results with a Pi 4 using the devel/2019-render branch which has just been merged into master. Performance on a Pi3 was poor and its best to stick with fixes/30 for now. On the Pi4 playback was better than fixes/30 for me, there is less judder when pan...

Re: Installing 0.30 on Ubuntu 19.10 not working

I am pretty sure that mythtv won't do a clean install on ubuntu 19.10. You would have to change mc.sql for the syntax change in the grant statement. Go for the current LTS Ubuntu 18.04. That should be fine.

Re: RPI4, Buster, Mythtv Light, H264, playback stutter

I have the same issues with Mythfrontend on PI4. In case you have not noticed a working version of Kodi is now available in the Buster Raspian repository and works fine with mythbackend.

Re: Backend on Pi 4

Thanks for the response, I will retry that configuration but it has always given me a picture that shows slight judder when panning. I am guessing that the difference might be in the broadcast format, presumably yours is not interlaced?

Check the database - seehttps://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual ... aintenance
Mythweb also has database checks as part of its tools.

Re: Backend on Pi 4

Mythtv combo FE/BE on Raspberry Pi 4B with 4GB, 1TB SSD, with rootfs is as good as my production mythtv-backend with a Shield TV frontend. Other than having 8TB of mirrored RAID storage, the Pi does everything. Since I never record more than 4 HD shows at once on the production system, the Pi can d...

Re: myth 30 freesat scanning uk

Those images look correct. I still can't easily run setup to give you the exact key strokes but the problem possibly lies in the way the HCI works. At a guess you are just hitting the Full Scan Tuned in the Scan Type input in the first image. You have to seed the scan with the parameters I posted ea...

Re: myth 30 freesat scanning uk

I can't run setup at the moment, somebody is using the system. Will do so in the morning and record what I do. If you can't see the symbol rate parameters, setup thinks that you are trying to configure a none satellite adapter ie DVB-T. Are you using the latest version of Myth 30. Does the adapter s...

Render branch on Pi 4
Thanks using the following :-
./configure --enable-proc-opt --disable-mmal --disable-xrandr --disable-vdpau
got me near to your library usage and that now runs with the issues as you describe them.

Re: myth 30 freesat scanning uk

I am not clear what your problem is. I find the user interface at v30, (improved in master I believe) for setting up both the LNB and performing the channel scan, both quite difficult to use so there is plenty of scope for it not working. There is no need to set LNB frequencies if you have a simple ...
