Re: Mythtv has no problem, but I cant access Mysql. [Solved]

OK I found my own solution. I logged in and:

>cd /etc/mythtv
>cat config.xml

the output shows the mythtv user's password. What's odd is it's not the password that is reported in myth-setup. It's just as cryptic but different.

When I use 'mythtv' as user and this cat'ed file's password I get in.

Re: EIT description mismatch for programs

Upgrading to 0.28 fixed all of my EIT description problems. I'm using 2 Hauppauge tuner PCIx tuner cards and now I can set both to collect EIT OTA (ATSC) data. Before 0.28, EIT data was more stable when only 1 card was collecting data, and even then it was full of old description data. Now that I ha...

Mythtv has no problem, but I cant access Mysql

First off the top, let me say Mythtv has no problem accessing the database. Everything is working. Having said that I'm pretty sure if I keep mucking around, that wont be true for much longer. I'm OK with that as my system is really simple and a rebuild is no big deal. I trying to figure out a few t...

Re: I can't figure out Mythfilldatabase syntax (V0.28)

Thanks, this seems to have worked: "mythfilldatabase --file --sourceid 1 --xmlfile xmltv.xml" It ran and I saw update type messages but my guide is still populated with the OTA EIT data. I think I probably have to go into Mythsetup and change something. Anyway I think you've solved my syntax issue. ...

Re: I can't figure out Mythfilldatabase syntax (V0.28)

Well that failed too. First "--update" is depreciated. Changed to what follows, then I got these errors: mark@mythtv:~$ mythfilldatabase --only-update-guide --file --xmlfile xmltv.xml ERROR: --file requires all of the following be defined as well --sourceid --xmlfile mythfilldatabase version: fixes/...

I can't figure out Mythfilldatabase syntax (V0.28)

I have an xml file I'd like to import into MythTV ver0.28, but I cant figure out the Mythfilldatabase command structure. I know there is a help file with the "--help" suffix. Using that I've tried every combination of --file --xmlfile I can think of. None of it is making much sense to me. My guide f...

Re: Lost Ticket Thread

So if I use that git command structure and substitute ".28" will I get the patched version that is discussed in the Ticket? Then I'm assuming I'll have to figure out how to compile the source and apply it to my computer somehow. I think there's a bit of a learning curve in there. Does anyone know of...

Lost Ticket Thread

Somehow I started getting ticket info on an active problem with OTA EIT gathering. Myth sent me an interesting email which linked to a patch which might resolve my issue with 'bogus' EIT info. Now when I go back to the Myth Ticket area, the Ticket Number is no longer there. https://code.mythtv.org/t...

Re: When does EIT scan happen?

I actually discovered that if I turn off the EIT gathering on my second tuner card I get much better guide information. When I had both tuners trying to grab the EIT info my guide was often incomplete. Now I get a fully populated guide. As far as Craig's statement about the EIT not being regulated i...

Re: What's the state of HD tuners in Canada these days?

I'm using 2 Hauppauge HVR 1250 PCIx tuner cards. One I bought years ago, and another New In Box I saved from the garbage bin at my work. Both are the same model number but each uses a different frontend chipset. Myth had no trouble in sorting out the difference. In the Tuner card setup, each reporte...

Re: When does EIT scan happen?

Thanks for the Active/Passive mode info. I had already looked through the Wiki but hadn't found info on that option. When I get home I'll check out the settings. As for the previous member's comment re shutting down the BE during non recording/viewing hours, is there a method of automating this, or ...

When does EIT scan happen?

Does Myth schedule an EIT scan during idle times, or does it rely on the user 'rolling' through the channels during the course of normal viewing. Why I ask is I have a new one day old BE build and the EIT guide was full yesterday, and now today only one channel had guide content. Yesterday since the...
