Re: Error Moving Database to New Host

So are you recommending I use mythconverg_[backup, restore] instead of trying to do it manually?

Looking at the list of files installed from PPA on Ubuntu 18.04 I do *not* see these scripts. Are they in another package?

Re: Error Moving Database to New Host

I still need some help with this. I've copied mythconverg to the new database host. I stopped mythtv-backend. I edited /etc/mythtv/config.xml. But mythtv-backend refuses to start: Aug 03 10:07:32 myth systemd[1]: mythtv-backend.service: Start request repeated too quickly. Aug 03 10:07:32 myth system...

Whither Cable Card?

I've loved my two HDHR Primes and have used them for years. But they're not being made anymore. I see the HDHomerun Prime 6 never went anywhere. It looks like it's been *years* since the SiliconDust page has been updated. Are there any other CableCard hardware solutions out there? Has "Big Cable" :)...

Re: Error Moving Database to New Host

So, I need to edit /home/mythtv/.mythtv/config.xml on *both* the frontend and the backend. I missed that.

But doing that on the backend causes the backend to fail. I'm missing something here.

Error Moving Database to New Host

I'm moving the database from an old host to a new one running Ubuntu 18.04 and MariaDB 10.1. I did a mysqldump of mythconverg on the old host then excuted: pv mythconverg-1346-20200728.sql | mysql -h myth.pvt -u mythtv -p mythconverg Then I edited config.xml on the frontend to point to myth.pvt and ...

Re: Moving 0.29 Backend to new host

Hurray, all the frontends are working! I finally get to say goodbye to Centos 6 and the dependency hell that is that ancient environment. Now ready to upgrade to 31. But I think I'll enjoy my working setup for awhile and catch my breath after three days of working on this. Thank you Wes and Bill. Yo...

Re: Moving 0.29 Backend to new host

Okay figured it out. In our previous debugging I had set the localhostname in config.xml to the *old* server. I removed that and restarted. There are the tuners! And surprise, the recording rules and upcoming recordings showed up. Live TV is working.

I think it's fixed.

Re: Moving 0.29 Backend to new host

Okay, I ran that SQL. It gives me the list of the 6 encoders

Code: Select all

cardid cardtype videodevice
1 HDHOMERUN 1310D391-0
2 HDHOMERUN 1310D391-1
3 HDHOMERUN 1310D391-2
4 HDHOMERUN 131992E4-0
5 HDHOMERUN 131992E4-1

Re: Moving 0.29 Backend to new host

Yes I just did. Discovery works fine. Plus mythtv-setup discovered and auto-installed the tuners without issue

Code: Select all

$ hdhomerun_config discover
hdhomerun device 131992E4 found at 10.0.2.94
hdhomerun device 1310D391 found at 10.0.2.67

Re: Moving 0.29 Backend to new host

I see several messages in the backend log: Jul 24 10:13:33 myth mythbackend: mythbackend[26664]: E ProcessRequest mainserver.cpp:4763 (HandleRemoteEncoder) MainServer: HandleRemoteEncoder(cmd GET_STATE) Unknown encoder: 1 Jul 24 10:13:33 myth mythbackend: mythbackend[26664]: E ProcessRequest mainser...

Re: Moving 0.29 Backend to new host

I wasn't paying attention to the logs. Those tuner messages were from yesterday. I shutdown the old master. The tuners are installed on the new backend. The new backend is setup as the master. I power-cycled the HDHRs. Rebooting the frontend, I still see tuner errors in Information. I do not see any...

Re: Moving 0.29 Backend to new host

I think I'm setting up the tuners wrong. I was trying to leave the old backend setup and add new instances of all the tuners on the new backend. I think that's wrong. So I've deleted all the tuners in mythtv-setup and re-added them on the new backend. But I'm getting tuner errors in the frontend sta...
