jfs troubles with Myth

Hello, I formatted my main myth storage area for recordings as jfs, because I saw it recommended on the basis that it deletes files faster. It does do that, but unfortunately about every day and a half the jfs partition unmounts itself. When I try to re-mount it, I get the dreaded, "bad fs type, bad...

Re: HDPVR not recording

thank you, that makes sense. I've checked that those settings were correct (rear component audio) and double-checked that the cables are attached. I raised the timeout, although tbh, under Linux Mint the hdpvr always tuned instantly. Unfortunately it is still not working, and the logs don't seem to ...

Re: HDPVR not recording

Thank you! To clarify, are the settings you have in mind in the frontend or mythtv-setup? I believe I have seen audio/video options in both places. I added some additional logging using --setverbose channel, record, network, socket, and it just keeps repeating this: 2021-05-25 17:25:49.058393 I [1326/7...

HDPVR not recording

hi, I just switched from Linux Mint to Fedora and I'm having trouble getting Myth to record through my hdpvr. First off, I should mention that I ported my database over to the new computer using the backup and restore utilities following the incredibly well-done instructions in the wiki, and it work...

Re: file not fast-forwarding in Leanfront

2. I have today released a new apk (leanfront-release-v0-277-g9d091b2.apk) that has a section "Tweaks" in Settings. Try increasing the "TS Search Packets" value. I have also added some information on the tweaks to the documentation on github (https://github.com/bennettpeter/android-MythTV-Leanfront...

Re: time for a new backend / daily driver

don't scare me like that :) :)
yes, the PRO CPU that I ordered is on the supported list for the board, so hopefully it works.
I have received all parts. Now for the fun part ...

Re: file not fast-forwarding in Leanfront

When you are unable to skip, does the total playback time show in the OSD? To fix it, can you give me a sample of a file that will not seek? Alternativley I can give you a test leanfront with a larger seek size for you to try to see if it fixes the problem. Right you are, the playback time is not s...

Re: file not fast-forwarding in Leanfront

Thanks for the help. I will try the ffmpeg if i need to rescue a particular file. i changed out the mythcommflag to comskip and its near perfect. I am unfamiliar enough with commercial flagging that I'm not sure what you mean. Is this a setting in mythbackend? I'm responding to PBennett in a separat...

SOLVED file not fast-forwarding in Leanfront

Generally I've had very good success with Leanfront playing back everything. On Sunday, though, I recorded the women's NCAA basketball final from cable (H.264 using a HDPVR). The file plays fine, but I am unable to fast forward or skip forward in it. At first I thought maybe it was being comm flagge...

Re: time for a new backend / daily driver

Taking that advice, I've ordered this one: https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/B550M-DS3H-AC-rev-1x/sp#sp I was so happy with my current Gigabyte board and its longevity, it seemed fair to give the sale to them this time around. For a CPU I went with the Ryzen 3 PRO 4350G RAM has been purchased ...

Re: time for a new backend / daily driver

blm, I am curious why you say the spinning SATA drives are fine for recordings. I would have thought the speed advantages of the other types would improve playback. Is that not the case? I’ve been generally happy with my SATA hard drives and gotten good life out of them, until just recently when the...

Re: time for a new backend / daily driver

The prices these days are outrageous. With the factories having gone down (I think it's due to the pandemic?), some of these cards are selling in the $800 plus range, which is more than I was planning to spend for the whole computer. The AMD with integrated graphics is starting to look more appealin...

Thanks so much, that's exactly the type of info I was needing. I hadn't even heard of NVME drives. Shows you what happens when you're out of the market for so long!

time for a new backend / daily driver

After 12 years, I need a new living room PC. The current one serves as a Mythtv backend, music jukebox, photo storage, and my personal computer for web browsing and email. The machine has been awesome but there are a growing list of gremlins like unreliable bootups, disks that unmount themselves, et...
