Re: Migrating WMC Recorded TV files to MythTV

Using mythbuntu and mythlink.pl doesn't work. I get the dreaded "Unable to connect to mythbackend, is it running?" error. Everything is fine as far as the config.xml files. After doing a bunch of googling, it appears that it's simply not going to work for me as none of the threads ended with any res...

Intel H97 HDMI audio to Onkyo TX-NR828 7.1 weirdness

I'm having somewhat of a problem with this setup. After a bunch of tinkering, I'm able to get the receiver to output 7.1 surround sound mostly correctly. The oddity is when I test the sound using Mythfrontend->Setup->Audio etc it connects as PCM Multichannel and outputs sound on all the speakers, ju...

Re: External Tuners

I'm wanting to stream through my router and over the internet to my phone and tablets. I'm looking for the best way to do that and hoping for a way that doesn't require me to wait for a transcode to occur. Remote Potato did a good job with WMC as the backend. I've found a couple of Android apps that...

Re: External Tuners

I have an HDHomerun Connect 2 tuner box. I really like it. It seems to feed an MPEG2 stream to MythTV. It is my understanding (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) that the Extend is basically the same as the Connect, but streams in H.264 which requires roughly half the bandwidth. The big selling point...

Re: Shows mysteriously stop recording

I don't know if this is relevant, but most of my "channel" table entries have useonairguide set to 1. I can verify this in mythtv-setup using the Channel Editor. In the Video sources section, I do NOT have Perform EIT Scan checked. I'm also using an HDHomerun Connect box (love it). I notice that som...

Re: Migrating WMC Recorded TV files to MythTV

I found that, and I'm going to play with it a bit. I also found some other utilities that would rename the WMC recordings using embedded metadata. I found that I can use avconv (ffmpeg fork?) to extract the metadata from WMC recordings. I'm new to MythTV in a way, but I used to run it about 12 or 13...

Migrating WMC Recorded TV files to MythTV

What's the best way? I've done some Googling and found suggestions to just put the WTV files into the videos directory, but this is kind of ugly since it doesn't seem to have a series concept of the shows. Is there a way to put them into the recordings folder and get them scanned into the database? ...

Re: mysql password confusion and hostname changes

Ah OK, I found that /home/mythtv/.mythtv/config.xml was a link pointing to /etc/mythtv/config.xml and that /root/.mythtv/config.xml points to the same place. However, /home/mike/.mythtv/config.xml is a real file. How cornfusing is that? ;) No wonder it was doing that. I also found the entry in the a...

mysql password confusion and hostname changes

This is more of an informative post than a question, though I do have a question or two. Yesterday, I did a clean install of mythbuntu to a new hard drive. I previously backed up my database and my recordings. During the install I used a different hostname than I originally used (1st major mistake)....
