Re: seeking/editing in mythfrontend

MythTV has never created or used mkv files for recordings so I'm with blm-ubunet on this one if it ever did work it was a fluke and not by design :? Paul, what you say may be true, but why would the video player and recordings player treat these mkv files differently? Also are you sure ffpro...

Re: seeking/editing in mythfrontend

I recall the decision was to NOT generate seektables for mkv containers. The fact it did work was an oversight. [Myth]FFprobe does not update any seektable, do you refer to mythcommflag --rebuild .. MKV design was meant to be be so clever it did not need a seektable shame about the timebase deficie...

As this seems to be a bug, I suggest that you create a Github issue for this.
Thanks, Klaas. I have filed a bug report https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/issues/353.

seeking/editing in mythfrontend

I use ffmpeg to transcode my recordings to an x264-encoded video stream in a matroska container. I use ffprobe to update the recordedseek table after transcoding, and update the entry in the recorded table so that I can watch the transcoded recording in Recordings. I have been doing this for a coupl...

mythfrontend over vnc crashes

I upgraded my frontend and separate backend from ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04, then upgraded myth from the .29 mythbuntu ppa to .31 (all due to the pending changes involving the metadata grabbers). The frontend and backend both work fine after the upgrade. Before the upgrade, I was able to use vnc tunnelle...

Re: lock fails on single channel

Bill was right. The facts from my scan and database showed me the station had moved from channel 40 to 19, but I could not find any other indication of the move (I had checked on the station's webpage and on wikipedia, too, which I didn't mention earlier). Anyhow, after several weeks of successful r...

Re: lock fails on single channel

Bill, thanks for the tip. I had thought of this possibility but tvfool (not allowed to post link) did not show any change and I could not find the information on the CRTC webpage.

All fixed now. I hope.

[Solved] lock fails on single channel

I have an HDHR4-US which I have used for 4+ years without a hiccup. A few weeks ago, recordings on a single channel (9.1 CKND in Winnipeg) began failing because the tuner fails to lock. I investigated tonight after another failed mythtv recording and I can record using hdhomerun_config on both tuner...
