Re: Wireless mini keyboard recommendations

The problem I have with the new minis is that they have at most 10 function keys without having to use more than one key at a time. The H20 was back in stock yesterday, so I ordered one, and hopefully I get on ok with that when it arrives. The battery is not as easily replaced though, as the Rii one...

MythTV voice control

I see there was an attempt at an Alexa skill for MythTV at one stage. Are there any other attempts at voice control capabilities for MythTV, say for Simon (although no longer seems to be maintained), Mycroft, etc.? Even keyboard commands might be good enough to navigate around, play content and set ...

Re: Resurrecting a Simplified Vesion of Mythbuntu Control Centre

I'm not sure I could help much with this, but I would love to see this piece of Mythbuntu being resurrected. I applaud you for thinking of giving this a go. I was very sorry to see Mythbuntu being discontinued, since it seems to have made installing MythTV more difficult for new users in particular ...

Wireless mini keyboard recommendations

I currently have a Rii mini II keyboard to use with MythTV, which has served me well, but seems to be on its way out now, e.g. the E key is only working intermittently, so I am looking for a replacement that has all 12 F function keys without having to use key combinations, but they seem to be diffi...

Thank you

In a time like this when you are forced to spend most of your time indoors, and TV broadcasters are increasingly forced to resort to repeats, due to the Corona-Virus lockdowns preventing the production of a lot of new content, it really makes one realise just how valuable MythTV can be. I still have...

Re: Standalone EIT grabber?

Pretty old and not much (if any) maintenance anymore, but maybe this can be useful, depending on your needs:

Re: How can I stop SAP (Second Audio Program)

I don't use Kodi, but in the MythTV frontend, when a show recording is being played back, you can select the audio track by pressing M (menu) > Audio > Select Audio Track, one or more of which may be indicated as (Audio Description). Hope that helps.

Re: BBC radio programme recordings

Thanks for the explanation, MikeB2013. Now at least I know what was causing it.

Glad it's working for you too, Steve. :)

BBC radio programme recordings

Pleased to report that BBC radio programme recordings seem to playing correctly again after previously crashing MythTV frontend, although then still playing in the background. Now, suddenly, and without any MythTV updates (as I am using an older version that has not received updates for quite a whil...

Re: Newby questions about MythTV capabilities

MythTV is only intended for recordings that you are legally permitted to make, and I don't think that recording from Amazon, etc. qualifies and would be frowned upon by the people behind MythTV.

Re: Apostrophes showing as symbol unknown squares [Solved]

Thanks, wesnewell, although the keyboard layout was displayed correctly as English (UK), it was greyed out until I unticked Use system defaults. Now apostrophes in episode descriptions, etc. show correctly. Glad it was something easy :-) Edit: Looks like it is not quite solved. It seems that BBC cha...

Apostrophes showing as symbol unknown squares [(not quite)Solved]

Does anyone know where to fix this under Xfce setup based on Mythbuntu? Everything else seems to show correctly. This happens regardless of the Theme used.

Thanks

Re: Please help me understand

If you are not interested in the recording capabilities of MythTV, it may be a little overkill for your purposes. You should maybe investigate what you can achieve with something like Kodi instead.

Re: Deleted Recordings that Won't Delete from MythTV

I had a similar problem quite some time ago. If you have not already done so, try using the MythTV frontend client to delete the recordings from within the deleted group filter. If this does not actually delete the files, then try to delete them manually using their actual file name and then run a d...

Re: DVD cuts out early

I think this may be down to the recording being slightly damaged. Here in the UK, ProjectX can be used quite successfully to clean up damaged DVBT transmissions in a lot of cases, but I think you may need to find an alternative tool for US broadcasts. Also double-check for any potential permission p...
