Re: How can I stop SAP (Second Audio Program)

I don't use Kodi, but in the MythTV frontend, when a show recording is being played back, you can select the audio track by pressing M (menu) > Audio > Select Audio Track, one or more of which may be indicated as (Audio Description). Hope that helps.

Re: BBC radio programme recordings

Thanks for the explanation, MikeB2013. Now at least I know what was causing it.

Glad it's working for you too, Steve. :)

BBC radio programme recordings

Pleased to report that BBC radio programme recordings seem to playing correctly again after previously crashing MythTV frontend, although then still playing in the background. Now, suddenly, and without any MythTV updates (as I am using an older version that has not received updates for quite a whil...

Re: Newby questions about MythTV capabilities

MythTV is only intended for recordings that you are legally permitted to make, and I don't think that recording from Amazon, etc. qualifies and would be frowned upon by the people behind MythTV.

Re: Apostrophes showing as symbol unknown squares [Solved]

Thanks, wesnewell, although the keyboard layout was displayed correctly as English (UK), it was greyed out until I unticked Use system defaults. Now apostrophes in episode descriptions, etc. show correctly. Glad it was something easy :-) Edit: Looks like it is not quite solved. It seems that BBC cha...

Apostrophes showing as symbol unknown squares [(not quite)Solved]

Does anyone know where to fix this under Xfce setup based on Mythbuntu? Everything else seems to show correctly. This happens regardless of the Theme used.

Thanks

Re: Please help me understand

If you are not interested in the recording capabilities of MythTV, it may be a little overkill for your purposes. You should maybe investigate what you can achieve with something like Kodi instead.

Re: Deleted Recordings that Won't Delete from MythTV

I had a similar problem quite some time ago. If you have not already done so, try using the MythTV frontend client to delete the recordings from within the deleted group filter. If this does not actually delete the files, then try to delete them manually using their actual file name and then run a d...

Re: DVD cuts out early

I think this may be down to the recording being slightly damaged. Here in the UK, ProjectX can be used quite successfully to clean up damaged DVBT transmissions in a lot of cases, but I think you may need to find an alternative tool for US broadcasts. Also double-check for any potential permission p...

Re: projectx - what is it? Do I need it?

ProjectX is quite good at cleaning up European over the air DVBT transmissions that were recorded with some signal interruptions and the like. However, you should be able to cut commercials without it, and I don't think it supports US over the air broadcasts in terms of being able to repair them eit...

Re: File types

MythTV's internal player is based on FFmpeg and pretty much supports playing the file types FFmpeg supports, so you should not have too many problems playing files from a Windows environment. I guess you could always do a test installation of MythTV (e.g. on a USB drive) and chuck some of your most ...

Maybe just double-check that you have a video source connected to the tuners of each type.

Re: Bluetooth headset Mythbuntu 16.04

I personally can't get it installed without errors using the instructions provided under the link below, but if someone else with more "build from source" experience can give it a go on Mythbuntu 16.04 or later and get it installed properly and report back, I would appreciate it: https://github.com/...

Bluetooth headset Mythbuntu 16.04

It seems that the method for getting a Bluetooth headset to work under MythTV's frontend I described here: https://forum.mythtv.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=814&p=3898&hilit=bluetooth+headset#p3898 is no longer viable, as bluez apparently does not support ALSA anymore. Does anyone have alternative setup ...

Oddities when replacing a hard drive

Well, after quite a bit of hassle, I now have Mythbuntu 16.04 largely running after having to replace a hard drive previously on 14.04. While copying recording directory contents to a backup drive during this process, I got error messages while copying files involving this sort of name format: 1006_...
