Re: Myth Shutdown Shortly After Waking

Since the original answer I have set up a backend that sleeps instead of shutting down. I have not had the described problem. I have many checks in the pre-shutdown-check script and something there may be returning a non-zero code to prevent shutdown right after startup. You could put something in t...

Re: No volume control on HDMI audio

What I did was use the pulseaudio plugin on the task bar to switch playback to the HDMI since sound was playing through my laptop speakers. The internal volume control worked in this setup. You can set the default audio device for each application in the pulseaudio plugin, so you should be able to s...

Re: No volume control on HDMI audio

I just ran a test with an HDMI monitor and it works when I set it this way: audio output device: ALSA:Default Use internal volume controls: checked Internal volume controls: Mixer device: ALSA:Default Mixer Controls: Master The left and right square brackets increase and decrease the volume as well ...

Re: No volume control on HDMI audio

You can use MythTV internal volume control. This works as longs as you have not selected "Digital Audio Capabilities", which you have not selected. mythfrontend -> setup -> Audio -> Use internal volume controls. Then you use left and right square brackets [] to adjust volume, or other keys which you...

Re: Subtitles and NVDEC?

In the meantime there are workarounds - you can select VDPAU or Standard decode. Alternatively you can set up a post-recording job to extract subtitles into a file after recording so that the player will pick them up. This would not help with Live TV, since it would only extract the subtitles at the...

Re: Myth 0.31 fails to restore database - unable to connect to database.

In this case I believe you need to recreate your mythtv user and password and grant the privileges. I don't know how the ubuntu install is supposed to do it, but since MySQL 8.0, with manual setup in new installs I have had to first set up the default_authentication_plugin=mysql_native_password and ...

Re: Myth 0.31 fails to restore database - unable to connect to database.

To fix the "Authentication requires secure connection"
Add this line to your /etc/mysql/mysql.conf.d/mysqld.cnf
default_authentication_plugin=mysql_native_password

Re: Subtitles and NVDEC?

You need to look at the playback data
While playing : Menu -> Playback -> Playback Data
The codec / dec will tell you whether it is using NVDEC

Re: HDPVR not recording

Normally /dev/videox is in group video, and you should add video group to your mythtv user, not change /dev/videox to group mythtv. I don't know if this is relevant to your problem. I do not have an HDPVR.

Re: Subtitles and NVDEC?

USA broadcast shows have cea-608 subtitles and they do not display with NVDEC. I just confirmed this by testing. The menu does not even show the subtitle option. I suspect that the person who sees the subtitles is not really using NVDEC. Use "playback data" to see which decode method is being used. ...

Re: Installing 0.30 on a Pi4

v30 of mythfrontend for raspberry pi runs under x11, so you need to startx first and run mythfrontend from the menu or from a command prompt. Also it does not take the QT_QPA environment variables, they will likely cause problems.

Re: No audio on Firestick 4K

I tested this with that version of mythfrontend on a fire stick 4K. The "test audio output" does not work correctly with AudioTrack. It was not fully implemented. I also saw that error message. However, playback works correctly with audio. If your audio device was not recognized you should have seen...

Re: Nvidia Shield v Firestick 4K for full frontend

I just gave it another go and the other issue I have is that it's not especially responsive - in particular when skipping forward or back in a recording. I'm used to being able to jump pretty much instantly. But perhaps it could be because I'm using a non-4K firestick? This is true, skipping takes ...
