Re: "Failed to initialize A/V Sync" with VDPAU

VDPAU with AMD hardware often has problems.

If your setup plays H264 well with one setting and mpeg2 well with a different setting, you can set up your playback profile to automatically select a different setting for each, also to select different settings for different resolutions.

Re: HEVC decoding via VDPAU inside MythTV

It looks that way. It is working in Master if you want to run that, with the caveat that it may be less stable than the release version. However many people use the Master version.

Re: Can only log in to MySQL from #

Sorry, user thelma is not allowed to execute '/usr/bin/mysql' as root on origen.asandco. thelma@origen ~ $ This is a sudo error message. sudo is not set up to allow user thelma to run root commands. Probably thelma was not the original admin user when you installed your OS. Depending on how sudo is...

Re: Recording fails, Live TV Ok

Perhaps it uses a different tuner for LiveTV vs for recordings. Check the tuner sequence and priority for recordings and for LiveTV in the backend setup.

Re: Mythtv-Light libcrypto error

0.27 was only available for jessie. It is an unsupported version. If you really want to use it install jessie, but I recommend upgrading your MythTv to the latest version. If you create a symlink for the missing library you will likely just hit another missing library. I do not believe you will get ...

Re: Mythtv-Light libcrypto error

I think most likely reason is you are using a mythfrontend built for a different linux version. If using bintray, make sure you use the version built for your operating system (stretch or jessie). The latest builds are for stretch. You can try ldd /usr/bin/mythfrontend This will show the libraries y...

Re: Can only log in to MySQL from #

With Mariadb you can run as the database administrator only from the Linux root user id. sudo mysql -u root Once logged in that way you can create your application user id - see https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Build_from_Source#MythTV_Database_Setup Once you have created your mythtv database user id, yo...

Re: All remote frontends unable to connect to backend database

mysql can have a separate user id and password for each ip address. See what user ids you have this way: SELECT User, Host FROM mysql.user order by user; mysql uses % as a wildcard so you can use 'mythtv'@'%' to setup a user id valid from all addresses or 'mythtv'@'192.168.1.1' to setup a user id th...

Re: All remote frontends unable to connect to backend database

What is /etc/mysql/conf.d/mythtv.cnf ? Do you actually mean mysql.conf?

For mysql comment the bind-address out, for MariaDB set it as bind-address = :: I don't know what setting it to 0.0.0.0 will do.

Try to connect to the database with mysql:
mysql -u mythtv -p password -h 192.168.1.67 mythconverg

Re: Database Connect Error

You have to upgrade the database to the 29 version for the masterservername to be filled in. You need to run mythtv-setup v29 on the backend to upgrade the database.

Re: HEVC decoding via VDPAU inside MythTV

Only certain NVidia cards will support H265. See https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-decode-gpu-support-matrix H265 was disabled in some versions of FFmpeg VDPAU, but is enabled in the latest version.. The latest master source of MythTV has been upgraded to FFmpeg 4.1 and VDPAU HEVC works ther...

Re: Storage Directory Setup with Flaky NAS

I suggest you start this in your "Pre-shutdown-check command" script. When that is run you can be sure no recordings are running and none are scheduled to be done soon. I suggest you don't hold up that pre shutdown check while it runs but run it as a separate thread that is invoked from there. When ...

Re: Storage Directory Setup with Flaky NAS

See https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Setup_Storage_Directories You need to set up a second directory in the same storage group. Also make sure you set the Disk Scheduler to Balanced Free Space. For moving files you can just move them with mv as you have suggested. The system will search all storage group...
