Re: Pine A64 Experience..

Yes, I should have updated the pine64 blog. Why MythTV worked at all, for this short time, I just do not understand, but gives me hope.
diyhouse, like me, was looking for a little more horse power, but I'm beginning to think that Operating system maturity is more important.

Re: Pine A64 Experience..

This person did. I'd love to hear a update from them... https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=6079&pid=38842 That was me, on a Rock64, and I'm sorry to say that the fun was short lived. MythTV just stopped working and I have not been able to reinstall it. I wonder if someone was playing aroun...

Highlight the channel and then hit the 'D' key on keyboard, Not the "Delete" button on screen.
Thanks. I know this is an old post, but that was a very useful bit of information that was not obvious when in the Channel Editor.

Re: Hd Homerun can't get both tuners to work in 0.29

The information is stored in the database. From mythtv-setup->Capture cards->select a card->right arrow and you'll see the other options. Wonderful, thank you. If only I had thought of clicking the right arrow  I had even changed themes, in the hope of opening up the missing menu. I used sudo...

Re: Hd Homerun can't get both tuners to work in 0.29

I believe there are two ways of entering the tuner information, by the tuner id obtained from the device or by ip address and tuner number (from 0 up). You could try both methods and see which works. They should be set up as tuner 0 and 1 I believe. This used to be easy to do, but the option seems ...

Re: Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' (using passw

Ah, mine crashes every few days as well, in fact, getting closer to every day now, and I don't know why. I've tried a few re-installs with different distros to no avail. I hate to admit it but win8 is rock steady, so I don't think this is a hardware problem, probably more to do with my VIA graphics ...

Yes, very useful thanks and gives me confidence to try a fresh install as my current Xubuntu 14.04 works with MythTV, but crashes every few days for some unknown reason.

Re: Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' (using passw

.. I did not know where the real password was. It turns out it is in ~mythtv/.mythtv/config.xml. Unfortunately, ~mythtv/.mythtv/config.xml just shows the password to be mythtv, or at least that was the case in my set up, before I managed to get the backend setup out of its country selection infinit...

Re: Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' (using passw

Just tried a clean install of Linux Mint LMDE, that is Mint based only on Debian, hoping that that might be simpler. The only extra that I have installed is MythTV, on top of this totally clean install. Low and behold, I get the dreaded Myth TV could not connect to the database result. Is there anyo...

Re: Fedora or Ubuntu

I would be careful, unless you know a lot about mysql. I had a working system under Mint 16, but, because Mint 16 was not being updated, I tried a couple of Ubuntu distributions but cannot get past the Myth TV could not connect to the database error. I've tried several fixes but can only get a new M...

Re: Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' (using passw

...I still reckon even rwagner can't do a clean install, OS and mythtv and have it work out of the box (NO FIDDLING). If he can, he should let us know how to do it. I use debian sid (siduction) and no, it don't "work out of the box", but 5 minutes later I have a working system. apt-get update && ap...
