Re: Help with network drives for media storage

Hi both Thanks for coming back to me. To be honest, I have not got a /etc/exports file, and I am not sure what needs to go in there? The media server is running mint 17.3 (as it is my desktop PC with a ton of disk on it), and they are all formatted as ext4? I thought cifs related to the samba share ...

Help with network drives for media storage

Hi I have been running mythbuntu for a number of years very successfully, but have now decided to expand my system to encompass multiple front ends, a backend which contains 4 tuners and then a connection to another machine which has a lot of media stored across multiple drives. My current issue is ...

Re: Had to restore db & now backend won't start automaticall

Hi Right, so I have sorted out the fstab issue and both disks mount to /media/dom/Recordings and /media/dom/StorageC now at boot, which is useful. I have then checked the permissions, and root is the overall owner of the disks, and mythtv is the owner of the /Recordings directory (which is /media/do...

Re: Had to restore db & now backend won't start automaticall

Hi Sorry for disappearing but I had to go away suddenly, and so have only just been able to check back in! That doesn't look good... I have checked the directories exist, and you can cd to them from the shell, and get to /media/dom/Recordings or /StorageC. They both exist in the /etc/fstab file too,...

Re: Had to restore db & now backend won't start automaticall

Hi I am a bit of a dope. Sorry. I have followed the instructions to kill the backend and then run it again with the log file being output. It generated a 56mb file which is too big to cut and paste into pastebin (or anywhere else!). I have uploaded it to http://www.filedropper.com/mythtv Really sorr...

Re: Had to restore db & now backend won't start automaticall

Hi Thanks everyone for your help so far. I ran the mythbackend log command and here is the output... not sure what it all means. Hopefully it will mean something to someone! 2015-01-28 22:22:44.286104 C [16102/16102] thread_unknown mythcommandlineparser.cpp:2595 (ConfigureLogging) - mythbackend vers...

Re: Had to restore db & now backend won't start automaticall

Hi Thank you - that solved the problem of the frontend not being able to connect to the backend, but it seems to have now lost all the recordings stored on /media/dom/Recordings/Recordings . I checked to see if the storage directory still existed in the mythbackend setup (which it did), and am movin...

Re: Had to restore db & now backend won't start automaticall

Hi Bill I think you have hit the nail on the head - looks like I have a password mismatch. Rather than I go mess something up, how do I change the passwords for this, as to be honest, I thought I had got them right already, and clearly hadn't. dom@dom-myth:~$ ls -ld {~mythtv,~}/.mythtv/config.xml -r...

Had to restore db & now backend won't start automatically

Hi Running 0.27 on Mythbuntu 14.04LTS. My PSU died and so I took the opportunity to swap out my existing disk and replace it with a 256GB SSD. I had a backup from when the PSU died, and all of the recordings were intact. So, I reinstalled Mythbuntu 14.04 onto the SSD, wiped everything from the exist...
